Track Rubbing the Support Braket on the New Apex

Well my track is history at 700 KM...Not Happy at all ..I only weigh about 160 so you wouldn't think I'd have a bottoming out problem..

cheap fix, but works- take a big crescent wrench and bend out the trailing edge 1/4" or so, problem solved. Just get rid of the sharp edge.

Wow i have 300 km on mine and i weigh 200 and not a single scratch on my track. I am running a skid plate in the tunnel and adjusted the track perfectly and mine is mint. Take a grinder to that stupid muffler support bracket and file her smooth and that should fix your problem. Yamaha will fix it soon enough. We should all be used to first year problems by now.

Doesn't even seem like a problem compared to broken cranks bad rings , vibrations etc. that the other sled makers have problems with.

Turbo Tim i agree, i had a first year Summit 800 with the ring problem and i had to put a new motor in her because the piston let go and grenaded the entire engine. I will keep the Maverick adjusted and live with this very minor problem, he he. Goodbye 2 strokes !

Minimize bottoming on your skid

Yamaha makes parts that will bolt on your Apex skid and minimize bottoming and will also give you better adjustability on weight transfer
Parts are stock on 05 short track Vector

I contacted Yamaha Canada about this problem and the guy said he would look into it for me and respond when he finds out. Seemed very helpful. I dont mind cutting that bracket out, i just want to know if Yammie will allow me to without voiding my warranty.

I will talk to my dealer. He may be able to help me.

apex

alpine motor ssports called me and had me bring my sled in and fixed it on waranty for me.they cut it downd and riveted in a skid plate.

I took 1.25" off my casting, no skid plate. Pounded the sh!t outta my sled for 3 days since and no rubbing at all.

15 mins with the Dremel and a glass of vodka and the problem solved !

I have some information on this topic take your sled to your dealer and show them your track. Yamaha has given the go to cut that die cast bracket which hangs down. ONLY DEALERS should be cutting the bracket and have them note and call about your track damage. Do not cut bracket your self there is a way Yamaha wants it cut for saftey your dealer can get a picture of how to cut.

They did the same for me. I brought it in and waited for it. They had it done in 45 minutes.

I really dont know what the crap this is all about, but I have been jumping the hell out of my sled, coming down hard, I weigh about 215, and not one nick in my bracket, not a scratch.

I beleive its all in the set up, and included in that set up is some smarts, who ever you out their who bought sleds, and are having this problem, I beleive its because of bad set up when the dealer put it together.

Or maybe its just because I got the best sled out of all of ya.

Hope ya all have good luck figuring it all out.
