Track Rubbing the Support Braket on the New Apex

Yamaha has some suspension issues that has to be delt with . What do you guy think. I was thinking of adding a 1'' drop bracket

200 Miles on mine and all still looks new .Thanks for the info though .........I'll be taking the airsaw to that rear bracket. And replacing some of the tunnel rivets with aircraft style rivets.

I'm gonna be dumping my exhaust out front for a turbo application and was wondering if you guys think I could completely remove that muffler support bracket or is it needed for tunnel support?

Thats what happens when you slam an extension on a sled without look at the results of the change, if I am viewing the pictures correctly.

It's probably one of those cases where one guy was working suspension and another working chassis at Yamaha... The left hand not coordinating with the right hand... Add a few more mishap "contributing factors" like: front straps let all the way out letting it pivot a little too much on the rear suspension mount, track flutter under changing loads, tipped-up rails, suspension set up a little soft for the circumstances, tail-landing a 700+lb sled with a 200+lb rider and it's a recipe for broken parts... Just by looking at the angle of the track in the tunnel you wouldn't think anything of it, looks like it will clear everything fine (see pics) but get the right combination of variables together and whamo, you got problems...

Yeah you probably right hammer. We all know yamaha has to correct and fix the problems . But what one should remeber that it is not the dealship that made the sled and give our Yamaha Reps and dealers a chance to rectify the problem. I know my dealer has been nothing but great to me and is working there hardest to fix the problem. One can't walk through the door screaming and holloring about the problem it doesn't help any to
get the situation solved.
These fourms can be good but also bad. I Have posted the pic's to show people what is happing so everyone can learn from them and to have the problem corrected before they do damage to there sleds . That way they won't be talking there frustrations out on there reps for damaged sleds

Stubble -- Did any of them have oversize rear axel wheels (big wheel kit) ???

Hammer: None of the sleds that i know of had big wheel kits. All that has been done is the turbo's. Other than that they are stock.

Thank you sir, just won a $20.00 bet with my dad....... ;)!

Hey Hammer. Your first ride date was supposed to be Dec. 10th. Any fuel controller yet??

No magic box yet.

Al said he would have it to me thu-fri so I can ride next weekend... Hopefully this friggen high pressure and sunshine over the state goes away and we get some snow... The local ski area doesn't have enough snow to even open so that right there tells you I'm not missing out on much here... The normal/average opening date for the ski area is mid-to-late December... It’s almost that time of year so I should be ready when it gets here... Snow, snow, snow dammmmit.

Here's the post on their webpage.

THIS IS A BRIEF WEATHER REPORT FOR FRIDAY, DEC 9, 8AM. WE DID NOT RECEIVE ANY NEW PRECIPIATION IN THE LAST 24 HOURS. OUR CURRENT SNOWDEPTH AT THE BASE IS 12 INCHES AND 30 INCHES ON TOP. WE ARE CURRENTLY IN A HIGH PRESSURE WEATHER SITUATION. THIS REPORT WILL NOT BE UPDATED OVER THE WEEK UNLESS CONSIDERABLE WEATHER CHANGES OCCUR! AS ALWAYS IN THE BEGINNING OF THE SEASON AND WITH SNOW FLYING IN THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS YOU ARE PROBABLY WONDERING WHEN THE RESORT WILL OPEN. DEPENDING ON THE DENSITY OF THE SNOW WE NEED ABOUT 2 FEET TO OPEN. HISTORICALLY SPEAKING THE AVERAGE OPENING DAY HAS BEEN IN THE MIDDLE OF DECEMBER! PLEASE THINK SNOW!

Are you sure that your track is tight enough and not ballooning out from the power of the turbo at higher speed? I have seen that happen.

Ken Climb: I plan on taking my brace out. Never seen a sled before that needed something like that. When is your turbo coming? Mine will be here next week.

Ok, seems to me that stubble jumper is definitely NOT being completely honest about this.

Looking at this picture he posted:
http://www.ty4stroke.com/download.php?id=15489

And comparing it to this one posted by HAMMER:
http://www.ty4stroke.com/download.php?id=15504

It is clear that the one posted by stubble jumper is definitely of a MODIFIED sled - the rear of the suspension is mounted TOO HIGH on the drop brackets. He stated that that picture was taken withOUT anyone sitting on it. They definitely do NOT sit like that without any load.
