Just wondering what people are using for a 20lb weight to check track tension?

A case of beer ....... LOL!!!!

Honestly, I don't use a weight. I tension mine to where the top of the inner lugs are about even with the bottom side of the hyfax. I'm assuming that to be pretty close and seems to work well. Others may have different methods that work for them.

Edit for clarification ... I should say that I don't really put tension on the track when I set the tension. I just let it hang so the top of the inner lugs are even with the bottom of the hyfax.

Fish scale work's for me or i just i ball it some times

I use the 2 finger method. If I can moderately squeeze 2 fingers, and mid skid, it's good.

LOL, I've used the fish scale, I've used the two finger approach too (pretty close IMO) I'd also just laid (2) 10lb weights from my workout room on the track and set it. Any of these methods get you pretty darn close...

Belt tensioner tool. Basically same thing as the snowmobile track ones, but you can buy it at any auto parts store.

I don't i run it loose with a 1 1/2 to 2 inch sag! I' ve always ran tracks loose

2 inch with 20 lbs of tension in manual

Thats what i do also. With the antiratchet drivers it is much easier to run loose. Just have to pay attention to if it rubs the tunnel or not.
I have almost 5000 miles on my original hyfax and im sure it is because i keep the track as loose as possible

A small luggage scale I got off eBay. Cost me around 8 dollars and even has a little tape measure built in as well

Do you just get the track off the fround and pull down on the bottom or is there another way? My track seems tight after having shocks rebuilt.

Yes, many have a sled hoist for maintenance which makes it easier to do work on entire sled. When on this hoist there is plenty of room to pull track down with tension using a fish scale or whatever you prefer.

If just lifting the rear end up it will be harder to pull tension due to lack of ground clearance. So maybe use one of the suggested methods noted earlier in this thread.

2- 10lb weights, this is the best way to set it, I was using the 2 fingers method then when checking it with weight it was 7 turns too tight and wearing the sliders at the front curve
