Track tension ????

Track tension that yamaha sugests is snug. The problem with that is when you drive your sled over a hump or when you use a loading ramp and you get your skies on the back of the truck and the sled won't move and starts to burn the belt. What happens is the front of the rail compresses without the rear the track gets so tight, then it labours to move. Also I think thats why the sled highsides and fells like it wants to flip over going slow over foot high humps. So I run my track quite loose, hanging below the rails about 3 inches.

I'm very surprized that you have not had a ractheting problem. I didn't have studs last year and never had a problem, this year I studed, boy did I need to tighten up!!I tightened to about 3/4 inch and have had no problem. When it ratchets you'll know! bad bad sound!!

Nope it deos'nt ratchet but with an 1.25 track studs don't stick out that much. I thought it would too. Also adding to what I said above when the rear is compressed alone the track gets very loose. Strange design in the suspesnion to go from real tight to real loose.

On my new Warrior it started ratcheting and I checked it, and it had about 1+1/2" of slack so I adjusted it to about 3/4". I have to wonder how you can run it with a 3" drop

Track Tension

Have 144 1.325 Studs, I set the track with a tension gauge to 1 inch have no problems ratcheting or problem loading sled, but I added a wheel kit in the front of skid from day one. For the record had to ride a road 8 miles with minimum snow cover and have not seen any slide wear. Happy Holiday Bigtime
