I am switching to a tall windshield..

Has anyone successfully tranfered a michagan sticker to a new windshield with minimal damage??

Cant be done as far as I can tell. Every one I have ever pulled off at the end of the year has left void markings on the sticker and the sled.

I've done it more than once with Ontario passes and they will also show "void" if not done properly. I used a electric heat gun (not a hair dryer) and heated the sticker and windshield throughly and then started a corner and kept the heat on the sticker as I peeled.

That's how I moved mine from low to high windshield. I now put sticker on air cleaner by windshield.

This is yet another reason why i ALWAYS stick my trail pass onto a black peice of VINYL ,then stick the vinyl onto sled.

every year when i put new pass on,i can take old trail pass off without even hurting it....

ive done alot of vinyl work over the years, and using a hair dryer always helps removing decals.

Welter, sorry to butt into the post, but what size windshield are you going with? i have an 06' attak with the stock windshield is that considered the low one or med one?

You need atleast a MEDIUM windshield.. if not the tall..

I have a 2 in riser and the tops of my hands get cold..

You are ok with a med windshield if you have the stock bars with no riser.. but anything over that and you need the tall

I have also successfully transfered the sticker, but as mentioned use a heat gun or at least a hair dryer as hot as you can get it and work very slowly and be patient. I have done mine with the hair dryer but it was in my garage with the heater running and I heated it with the hair dryer for a few minutes before even attempting to peel it . If it doesn't work for you, you're basically in the same predicament, as you'll need to buy another. Gene

I have taken my Michigan sticker off for the past 2 years. Once for changing the windshield and once for changing snowmobiles.

Both times them came off pretty decent and have been able to attach them back onto a different windshield.

I have not seen the void marks that others are speaking of.

Hairdryer always helps with stickers.

I realize that the question had to do with a Michigan trail sticker. However I thought that I would share something that I learned about the Minnesota trail sticker.

I bought the 3 year trail sticker and when I switched to the Powermad mid height windshield (highly recomended by the way) I asked at the local DMV office what a replacement 3 year sticker would cost.

They are only $2.50 each so I bought two (just in case of an oops). The strange thing is that after you cut the trail sticker to the proper size, there are no registration numbers on it (like there is on the two registration stickers).

Now I would not do such a thing because I want everyone to contribute to the trail funding. However I'm wondering how many replacements they would sell to any given person and what would stop someone from distributing replacement trail stickers to other persons?

I am assuming that the DNR could run your registration and find out if you bought the trail sticker for that sled. I just wonder why they wouldn't have made it easier for the DNR to visually just look to see if the trail sticker is on the correct sled?

Hey we just did it on our way up to the up last time. Use a little heat, and go slow. As for putting it on any place else, that is why we got stopped and checked over head to toe at a trail check last year. I had mine on the hood and not the windshield. The let me know that next time it needs to be on the WS where they can see it and give you the wave bye. Maxdlx
