Hey guys,

I have a 2016 MTX 141 with mpi turbo kit and Fox Float shocks. I know an MTX isn't really the ideal trail sled but it was a very good price. I'm 85% trail 15% off trail "having to ditch bang to get to the trails and some playing around" I just find the steering to be very heavy. I was previously on a 09 nytro xtx 144 also with fox floats but also had tuner skis and the steering on that sled very light.

This weekend my buddy wanted to try out my sled and right away we both noticed how heavy the Viper feels compared to the Nytro. Like almost 2stroke vs 4 stroke heavy. What do you guys suggest I start with? Still running stock skis with single carbides

Thank you

Increase preload on center shock spring and it will take weight off skis.

I trail ride a 141 MTX. I am a 75/25 on/off trail rider. I assume you have addressed the clutching and gearing. If not there is way more untapped capability in your Viper. The heavy steering is a well-known problem on the MTX and XTX Vipers. Easily corrected with a stiffer front skid shock spring. Search “stingray spring”and you will find plenty of info. I bought my spring from ZBroz Racing but if you contact one of the forum moderators, Cannondale27, he can hook you up with the spring that you need.
