Trail Tank Deal???

Stock tank holds 7.4 gal
We're always on trails where fuel is readily available & a good rule is don't pass up to many gas stations LOL.

Wife's on left, mine right

yeah stocker holds 7.4 but how much is usable!? thought I read a while back someone did a test for each bar on the gauge and low 6's it started to sputter.

My 1st tank was a bear to get on,but had issues with it and was replaced with another from Trailtank. The replacement slid right in and nuts when on without any issues. Love the extended range!!

Where did you guys buy the Trail tank from? Did you go to them direct or is there distributors for them?

Depends on the riding you do obviously, but I'm not really sure these are necessary. I haven't ran out of gas yet. Last year I had full exhaust, k&ns. pcv and clutching, so I got a little worse mileage than a stock sled would. Plus I weight about 225 without gear.

The one time I thought I was going to run out I never did. This was the Abitibi Canyon Loop up in Cochrane. Was about 165kms, snow was very loose. The fuel light was on for about 15-20kms from cochrane, but never sputtered or anything. If the snow was hard packed I likely could have gone farther.

Good to know. One of the reasons I was getting the trail tank was for running up in cochrane. Didn't think I would be able to make it on the abitibi loop

Ya I was worried about it before the trip, but after doing some calculations we were fine. If you go from cochrane to quebec, or in some areas around sudbury I heard there are long gaps between gas stations (180 kms).

Ya. The up north riding will give me a piece of mind now. Around orillia, midland and into the muskokas I'm not worried. Gas stations everywhere.

I got about 170 km on a tank and that was a little bit of off trail while mostly on trail.

I get 135-145 miles with the trailtank. I did want to mention I did move my radiator forward with some shims (wife's old plastic cutting board) about 1/2"due to the trail tank taking up more space near radiator. Another TY'R had done this and pointed me in that direction. It definitely helped with some of my overheating issues after the install of the trail tank.

id be interested in seeing how much it took to fill it back up to the very top. Figure you got 15mpgs you burned nearly 7 gallons of fuel!

I also shimmed mine 3 washers on the top bolts of the radiator. with plastic expansion I had one time I heard a ticking noise and it was the fan hitting the shroud/tank. shimmed the radiator forward 3/16" and it hasn't been a problem since!

If I recall correctly, light came on my XTX at around 150km, and I went 20km on the light.
Pretty sure I pumped 27.6L into the tank....didn't spudder once though.
160km is a safe number usually.
