We had a couple issues brought to our attention within the past week. The nytro MTX has a heat exchanger that the RTX/XTX does not have which we were unaware of. We are in the process of modifying our mold to accomodate the cooling lines which now hit our tank.

We acquired an 09 MTX and did a review to fix that issue and also discovered that the sending unit float arm is positioned slightly lower than on the 2008 model we had used for the design. This may cause the fuel gauge to read 2 bars with no light on when it hits the bottom of our tank. Those who have purchased our tanks this year need to check this on their sled and may need to bend the float rod up slightly to read accuratly. The rods are very hardy and will take bending no problem. On future tanks this won't be necessary as we are making adjustments to fix that as well.

Reminder, if you purchased our tanks early and did not receive thumb screws or the heat film, contact us and we will send those to you free of charge.

THANKS.

Seth

seth i really didnt notice the lines on my 08 mtx hitting the tank, everything lined up well. is there an issue i should be concerned about? ski

I think it may be an issue more so on the 2009 models. That is what we are finding based on the complaints. You may be alright. just have a look at your machine and se if it looks like the tank is putting too much pressure on those lines. You may not have been able to even get the tank properly in place if it was an issue.

I also forgot to mention that on the sending units (2009 models) the hole spacing is off more so and guys re having to drill two of the holes out to a larger size on the plate to get the screws in.

Plus the lip around the plate the seals against the oring is 1/32 of an inch deeper than on the 2008 sled we had. It is keeping the plate from sealing against the oring. These are all issues we are addressing on our mold now, but for those you have tanks already you will have to do some tweaking. Call us for help if you have these issues.

Thanks.
Seth

is this all 09 or just MTX? i have a XTX and got a tank from Ulmer last week, the sending unit fit fine (did not drill any holes)and did not leak, but as for the float i can not tell you if it is right or wrong

Seth what does this mean? My tanks is being put on my 09 NItro SE before I pick it up. What issues is this going to cause if any?

To Gibby:

Just MTX for the coolant line conflict. I would say all 09 models for the fuel gauge issues. But you have to try it. Some are okay. The reading on the gauge seems to be right on the edge of 2 bars/ 1 bar-fuel light on. If your tank is empty and the low fuel light is on, you are fine.

To stinx:

If your dealer has a problem they will contact us and we will advise them on the fix. It is really easy stuff to fix. No cause for long term concern. In fact, once the orings get impregnated with fuel they swell. Which makes the seal even better.

THANKS.

I have a 2008 MTX.

I had seepage around the fuel sending unit and fixed by replacing the o ring/gasket supplied with the new tank for the factory gasket.

I also found I had to drill out two holes in the plate for the fuel gauge plate to be able to install it on the new tank.

I had a real bit@h of a time getting the panels to come close enough to the thread holes on the trail tank. But with a bit of persuasion and using the thumb screws without the washers and insert I was able to have some success.

I guess my biggest concern now is with the tank being so tight against the cooling hose is there a risk of damage or failure to the hose?

Seth thanks for the update. I called my dealer and they said they called you already about the issues. I was told they squared evrything away.

I have an '08 MTX. I had one hell of a time with my trailtank. To say it was difficult to install would be a HUGE under statement. It hits the mentioned cooling lines and doesn't fit correctly. When I called Trail tank I was the only person having troubles and therefore was installing it wrong. The advice I was given was to push harder. The tank will not go forward any further and is pushing on the cooling lines with a lot of pressure. I have forced the tank and plastic to fit but my hood is buckled and looks funky. Also, with the tank is so far back the fuel line has a lot of tension on it. I really hope with all the pressure on cooling and fuel lines that nothing breaks.

In addition, I could not use the included O-ring around the pump after three tries and still leaking I re-installed the OEM one and no more leaks. Again I was told I was the only one having this problem.

It's nice to have a bigger tank, but with the fit issues and the blame I got for the lack of fitting, my wifes Nytro won't be getting one.

I admit it is a bit of a bear to install it on an mtx as the extra heat exchanger on the mtx contacts the tank.

But for me, having the extra fuel makes it worth it.

Remember it is adding about 40% more fuel capacity in almost the same area.

I had exactly the same issue as described above with my SE. I also used the stock O- ring around the pump. Found this worked better. I just have to get the bigger 1/32 o ring for the sending unit. Drilling the holes to get the screws in wasn't a problem.
Few issues but it will be all worth while.
Thanks for the help Seth. Awesome service. ;)!

Agreed.

I'm still curious if there will be any problems caused by vibration friction on the hose or tank.

I got the same problem on my xtx.

I though I was the only one that was having problems with the fit of the tank and the panels not fitting correctly. It just does not fit right. That was in August. I sold the tank and Seth gave me the difference I was out. You are having the same problems I was having. I could not compromise on the fit and finish that much. It was really good of Seth to refund me the difference though.
