Wanted to replace my trihub and don't trust only two wheels inside the rail in case of a bearing failure. Also, didn't want to add four wheel kit as I ride off trail alot, and like not having wheels outside the rails in the rear. After a little digging, I found OFTs three wheel Big Nutz axle. They sell it without wheels for either 12 mm or 15mm wide bearings. I opted for Avid 8" wheels with 15mm wide bearings rather than billet wheels ($$$). OFT also will sell plastic wheels, but I like the Avid wheels better.
I did modify the track tension bolt receptor slightly using a dremel and drill to fit up like the stock receptor, but other than that, it's a nice piece. Probably wouldn't need to modify it, but I am a stickler (wife says anal) for proper fit up.
Now I still have two wheels to support the track if by some chance I lose a bearing.

That looks like a great set up , I had the 4th wheel kit from ulmers and 2 outter wheels just bolt on stock shaft, which ends up using very long bolts to bolt on. One side ended up bending and the other side sheared off where spacer ends when doing a big jump landing with a bit of a wheelie, so had to go back to stock set up. I think I will be ordering a set like yours, I don't trust the tri hub too much either.

Thats a great option if you dont want to run wheels on the outside of the rails.

Big Nutz Axle was $110 + shipping, and Avid wheels were $40 each plus shipping.May I ask what the cost of this particular setup?

I paid approx $250 + shipping for the J&T 4 wheel kit, including 4 8.5" wheels.
Have to admit, this looks way cooler!!

Had I wanted to go to a fourth wheel kit, I would have installed JnT's kit. Cost wise, there isn't much difference, but I did not want to add wheels outside the rails.I paid approx $250 + shipping for the J&T 4 wheel kit, including 4 8.5" wheels.

The wheels are exactly the same as JnT uses Avid wheels with their kit. JnT does use a slightly larger bearing and shaft (25mm vs 20 mm) though.
I ordered the wheels and axle separately as I wanted the Avid wheels that JnT uses.
If the wheels outside the rails don't bother you, JnT has a very nice kit, and so does Larson Racing. For me, though, three wheels is better than two, but probably not as good as four. I didn't want the wheels outside so I settled on three inside, and yeah, the Big Nuts axle does look pretty bad #*$&@.

Avid makes NICE stuff.
So, what's the deal with the 8.5" wheels? Do they not make them to fit the 20mm axle bearing? Looks like we can only use the 8" wheels with the Big Nutz Axle.

My trihub was 8" so that is what I used for replacement wheels. So, what's the deal with the 8.5" wheels? Do they not make them to fit the 20mm axle bearing? Looks like we can only use the 8" wheels with the Big Nutz Axle.
J&Ts kits are sold with the 8" wheels unless you go to the Stealth Big Wheel kit. J&T uses a beefier axle (25mm), but I don't see why you couldn't put 8.5" wheels on the Big Nutz Axle even though its 20mm which is the same as stock. It would load the axle more with a hard hit to the rear wheels, but I don't see why it wouldn't work.
If you call OFT and ask them, they might tell you its not a problem. They were very helpful when I talked with the on the telephone.

Avid does make the 8.5" to take a 20mm bearing.
