2014 Viper LE & 2015 Viper XTX
Bought a used 2014 Viper SE with 1740 miles and a 2015 Viper XTX with 540 miles last Oct. Took sleds in for engine and chaincase oil changes prior to Wisconsin trails opening. Trails opened in February. Replaced battery for 1st ride. Brakes replaced after 2nd ride, $300. After 240 miles the chaincase bearing blew out on the 2014. $1800 repair bill. What else can I expect to go wrong?

Nothing now. The snow is gone!
Seems awful low miles to be having those issues. Used off trail maybe? Miles don't count if that's the case.

I think you got that backwards ;)

Off-trail = slow speed gentle
On trail = wide open throttle pounding the stutter bumps railing the corners.

Sorry to here that, with such low mileage on those vipers you would never even consider something like that happening or a repair bill like that dropped in your lap, there are some owners of Vipers say its the best sled they have ever owned with 0 problems and are at 7-8000 miles on them, maybe those miles where put on while they where being trailered, hope you get things figured out I would be checking the 15's chaincase bearings.

I had 9000 miles on a 2015 no bearings changed. Something does not sound right were they ridden with the parking brake on? I bought a left over 2017 Viper put 7000 miles on in a year and a month was hyphax oil change but always pay extra to have chaincase taken apart. Have a friend 10,000 miles on a 2015 and never even changed the chaincase oil.

I'm think a lack of maintenance by previous owner. Maybe like said above driven with parking brake on or brake rotor got rusty and pads seized on. If maintenance is done yearly you don't seam to have problems. I put over 18000km on one viper and bearing were all ok and 9000km on another and the same thing.

I hate to say it but buying used is a shot in the dark you have no idea what you have and it doesn't really matter what the mileage is. I would talked to the dealer you had change the chain case oil, did they re adjust your drive chain properly. There are lot of different variables here. Viper are good machines, don't listen to some of the clowns on here that say there not they don't own them and no nothing about them Fake News.

Thanks for all the replies. This sled had been ridden by a 70 year old lady. I do not know the maintenance history. We do like these sleds when they run good.
Hopefully next year we do not have any problems.
