I read in Supertrax magazine where they said the Apex gets 20-22 mpg all the time. I e-mailed them to let them know that my Attak and an Apex in our group are always between 13.5 and 16 mpg regardless of the way we try to ride it for mileage or not. Mark Lester from Supertrax magazine just e-mailed me back and he forwarded my e-mail to Yamaha for an answer but still says his Apex gets 20+ mpg all the time. We drive sanely and ussually on longer trips so we monitor our fuel economy all the time especially in Canada where gas is $4 to $6 per gallon. What are you guys seeing for mileage out there and don't tell me it doesn't matter because everyone wants to know their range on their sled.

Mileage

We spent most of the winter on the apex's getting 12 to 13mpg at best, once running out at 110 miles on a previously full tank, this is on smooth trail riding at moderate speeds. My mileage is way down form my 05 RX-1, kinda disappointed, not quite sure if Yamaha can do anything about this, where do you start at?

might get as low as 15.5-16 on soft trails and hard running but usually got 18-20 with my rtx w/o reverse, stock gearing, soft clutching, efi turned up 5 clicks,no studs, the only sled that beat me on mileage the last ride was a frontier 4stroke that only has about 12.5 hp hehehehe it got 22.5 that day and i got 20,everyone else was around 10-11 with polaris 700 classics and 550 super sports,i like it and it out performs all my buddies so no complaints here

Every mileage they stated in that article sounded very inflated to me, for ALL the sleds they mentioned. I believe they claimed 18 mpg on a Polaris 600 HO. Sorry, but NO WAY. It made me wonder if they were talking about the Canadian gallon vs. the US gallon....there is a difference but I don't know the exact math. I believe 20 mpg Canadian is something like 16 mpg US, but someone who isn't too lazy to look up the formula can correct me if I'm wrong...

Doesn't really matter though. As far as I'm concerned it was just another inaccurate magaine article. Supertrax is one of the worst, IMO. I don't agree with about 80% of what they write, but sometimes they pull a good article out of their butts and I subscribe to them and many others in hopes of finding one good story per issue and some varying opinions. I find Snow Tech to be the most consistent in producing stuff worth reading.

Usually 16-17mpg here.
Last trip out, Poo 600 got 8.5, Poo 700 got 9.5, Ski-doo ZX Renegade 800 10.0, I got 16.5 on my GT.
There was some ba11 busting at the bar that night lol

He maybe talking about imperial mpg.... I get 118 in Canada. 120 driving with my wife.

I posted this in the lounge a few days back but in the latest Snowtech mag they say the T660 Turbo gets 25mpg...not even close, more like 15mpg. The one in our group gets mileage very close to my old Warrior. Usually about $2 or less difference after a 60-70 mile ride in Canada so thats about 2 liters.
The Apex GT in our group would typically be within a $1 of my Warrior at fill up, but sometimes he would be less and I would be more. Pretty much identical when averaged out long term.

Supertrax is a Canadian Mag based in Ontario so when they talk about mpg it is always in Canadian (imperial) gallons. As LB posted...US mpg x 1.2 = imp/mpg

Hate to break it to you, but there is NO SUCH THING as a "Canadian Gallon". Never was, never will be. You're probably referring to the IMPERIAL GALLON. As in BRITISH. And if you read the FIRST REPLY on this thread, you would see that the conversion factor is 1.2.

RTX no reverse - Best would be about 19 through tight twisty stuff average speed 30. Worst about 11 in a straight line across Lake of the Woods through fresh wet snow right to the handlebars. It depends how hard you squeeze just like all the others. It will however always be better than anything else. If I am getting 11 they will be getting 6 or 7. I thought they only made 3 Frontiers. You should feel honored to ride with one.

can anyone tell me what efi turned up 5 clicks means???

None-the-less, did Lester buy his own APEX??? Or was it a loaner from Yammy??
In other words..he is paid to say it gets 20+mpg.
