I am new to the forum and new to sledding after 20 plus years of being absence from the sport. I purchased a 1997 Yamaha Vmax 700 triple in excellent condition this past fall and love the motor and looks of this ancient machine.
After putting some trail miles on it this winter I want to upgrade the skis, darting was a big issue with the old ones. I am considering the tuner dual runner skis with 6" carbides, is this a good choice. Should I go with the 4" carbides instead
Thanks Terry

This is the 4 stroke side if the site. I would go to Totallyamaha.net and register and ask in that general section.

Lots of dealers should have some tuners laying around, not many like them. Lots of guys change them out immediately!

They are pretty cheap being how they are made now.. loops are built in during the molding, etc. Mine came with 4 in carbides inner and outer from Yamaha. Did you give the single runner Yamahas a chance with Woody's duallys? they make a big difference ...

After doing much more research (which I should have done before ordering the carbides) the 6" inside and outside is way too aggressive for my light sled. The recommendations for the lighter two stroke is 4" inside and 2" outside.
Any thoughts
Thanks

Just put on a pair of 6" Woodys Doolies or Woodys Slim Jims (also dual runners) and your darting will go away.

Tuners aren't going to totally solve the issue either. Stay with your stock skis and get Woodys Doolies. Hope we all helped you!
Oh almost forgot...make sure your skis are shimmed properly so that the wearbars wear evenly from front to back. Common shim size seems to be between .125" and .187" thick.

I kind of figured they would not be the complete solution to my darting issue but a good start. Can't afford to purchase a new Yamaha sled so I need to find an expensive fix for now

Get the dual carbide arrow skies from royal. I run those on my srx and they work great. Best upgrade I’ve ever done to it.
