hey guys i have a 03 rx1 and i just bought a bender stage 2 kit not installed yet but i was just wondering what kinda of tuning im looking at in the next few weeks, like bigger jets ect. not really use to working on carb apps.
so if ya could just give me a heads up that would be great
Thanks Travis :4STroke:

I found the bender kit easy to tune because they had a bleed-off jet in the charge tube.I would start with stock jetting and about a .300 jet in the charge tube. You should be alittle rich with that to start.

just so i know dave as i go up in boost do we adjust just the charge tube jet or do we need to get into the carbs

rx1travis: As you go up in boost, go to a smaller jet in the charge tube.

Just remember it works in reverse to jet size. Bigger jet makes carbs
leaner, smaller jet makes carbs richer.

You should have your sled running its best before you install the turbo. When that is accomplished you do not need to change any jets in your carbs. All fuel delivery changes are accomplished with the pitot jet located in the charge tube. I had 400, 500, 600, 700, 800, 900, 1000, 1100, 1200 in a kit and would adjust as necessary. I usually ran a 600 or 700. I also rode from 4000ft - 8000ft in elevation. IMO, the pitot jet makes adjustments a breeze and that was a feature the Bender kit had over the other kits.

If it is a used kit - find out if it has a stainless steel or titanium chargetube. The ti chargetubes in genreal needed much bigger main jets - thay ran alot leaner that the ss chargetubes.

But remember all chargetube from Bender run a little different - so watch your A/F!

If the chargetube has pitot that works as intended there is no need for rejetting. Take woodsrider advice - he knows what he is talking about - tune in with a 600 jet in the pitot. This gives a lot of "room" to play with your A/F on different boost settings, alltitude etc.

Make sure you have two signal lines/hoses to the carb slides and install billet T'ees for the float bowl signal. This will save you a lot of problems dialing in the sled. Both Hurricane and Ted J. sells the billets T'ees.

Do a pressure test on the comp.side - fix all airleaks before taking here for your first ride.

Have fun :jump:

The Bender Kits were Very Well engineered and used High quality parts but like everything else there is alway room for improvement, So I suggest the following.

You should add STM carb caps, and Billet aluminum Carb Float blow tees to prevent leaks at the carbs that will strongly affect Jetting and running consistancy.

Clutching and gearing that came with the Bender Kits has a Lot to be desired.

Have your Exhaust housing Ceramic Metalic Coated inside and out before installing, they have a big problem with Rust when the sled sits for any length of time.

You also should add a turbo coolant kit to run coolant through the turbo, they did not come with this and there are a lot of turbo failures because of the lack of bearing cooling.

I can provide you with a lot of solid tuning help and all the parts you need, feel free to give me a call. 203-753-7223
