nice looking sled, good work. i did the same to mine except in black. sanding them panels down to make the panels look like that was alot of work. 1 winter so far on the paint and it's holding up very well.

I'd polish mine too, but then I'd have to see my ugly mug everytime I looked at it!!!

Just picked up a tube of this today, seems to work good. Used Never Dull the last couple of years but my hands took a beating using that.Supa Dexta said:If you ever come across a tube of simichrome, try it out. I got it off ebay after doing a bunch of reading on different boards.. Its really good stuff.

Yeah and from I've read it also has something in it to protect the shine as well.. We'll see this winter.

I have tried Busch Super Shine Aluminum Polish as well, but I am far from convinced. Yes, it cuts rapidly, it comes off easy and it offers a "half good" shine with very little effort. But in my opinion, like Mother's Mag & Aluminum Polish, it is also too abrasive to put on a tunnel that is in good condition.
I have spent couple of days polishing my tunnel to a close to mirror like finish. The final step has been Mother's Billet Metal Polish five or six times over. With a Power Ball on the flat surfaces and by hand in the hard to reach areas. If I try to do one more polishing step with the Busch stuff, it will dull my tunnel with loads of microscopic scratches.
In my opinion, the Busch stuff could be a very good first step on a tunnel that is not in good condition or on a tunnel that will not be wet sanded. But as a final step on a good tunnel, I would pick something less abrasive.

6 coats of billet is quite a lot no? I've never taken it that far as I chose to do it by hand. I'm not sure how bushs reacts with the drill, but by hand one coat of bushs is equivalent to three with the billet. Maybe the perfect recipe is..... Wet sand 800 up tp 2000, 2 coats bushs and 2 coats billet to finish. Then seal, I use alcoa. The above procedure minus the billet is what I used last season. This year, I'll try one pass bush by Hand, and 2 billet with the drill

I would not wet sand again. I did 2x with 2000 grit paper...my tunnel wasn't to bad to begin with... but now I can not get the scratches off the tunnel left behind by the sand paper. I did 6 coats mag and alum with a mini ball at a slow speed, and 4 coats billet by hand. feeling it in my shoulders

Autozone usually carries billet.
For the guys around the Iowa boarder. Stop by i80 truckstop and get rabbit mix. I think you can buy it online too. That's what my detail guy uses on truck rims and tanks.

Wow that's rough. Alright so skip the wetsand and straight to polish, since it was wet sanded last year
