So I have read good things here about MPI and MCX kits. What about the push kit as well as Hurricane? I see that Daves kit is about 1k less so looking for pros and cons of each. I have not found where anyone really does a comparison.

I don't think there will be any Kind of comparison because it's hard to get all the different turbos together. There has never been one as far as I have found. They are all good in there own way. MPI has been an authorized dealer of Yamaha for its turbo and supercharger. There fit and finish is second to none! Matt at MPI has great customer service and that's why I chose MPI. They all make great hp. It's a hard choice. Do your research and find one that has dealers installing them.different dealers install different turbos. My dealer happened to be working with MPI and an authorized dealer of MPI and since they were also a authorized dealer of Yamaha it was a no brainer for me. And now that I have over 1500 miles on my sled I'm more than happy with my choice with MPI. Great power fast as hell and great guys to deal with!

One other thing that might not be known, to get Yamaha qualified takes a pass of a torure test of vendors product to get the approval. This test is tough, so much so that nobody tried it for the Phazer....lol. So if you buy MPI you may have an issue or not but know it has been SEVERLY tested before approved by Yamaha.

We got the mcx kit because it was available locally, MPI didn't have much going on it canada and their dealer was trying to upsell us upgrades to the mpi kit before they even had one in their hands. If it were not for the crappy logistics of getting an MPI kit in canada it would have been the way to go. We used to be able to buy direct which was great.

Anyways we have an MCX 190 viper the kit works well, no real issues however would not purchase an MCX kit over MPI if it were not for getting the kit etc. The MPI kit is THE kit to have on the viper.

I have hurricanes and so far really like it. And absolutely a great guy to deal with also when it comes to help with install or clutching. Pics on instal printout would be nice but we figured it out

Thinkng of pulling the trigger on an MPI turbo kit for my XTX, anyone have real world experience w/ same set-up? Thanks!

I have narrowed the search down to MPI or Hurricane. I really like all the info about MPI but what is the real difference between MPI and Hurricane? other than the cost being 1k different?

Also Matt, to get the 240 out of your kit do you have to run race gas or just premium? I am leaning towards you guys so just want to get all of the info.

Two big differences, intercooler and muffler. With the intercooler your charge temps will be lower and will allow for higher horsepower down the road. The muffler is really quiet. This will allow you to ride where sound restriction might limit other kits with louder mufflers. This muffler is built 100% in house out of high quality stainless steel doesn't have a ounce of packing in it, so it doesn't have anything that can blow out. It's 5 lbs. lighter then stock and will out flow stock. Along with our choice of high quality hardware, clamps, hoses and fittings I think makes up for the price difference. Our instructions have 100 annotated photos along with set up instructions. We have over a season and half of testing. We have supplied Yamaha with turbos and superchargers for over 3 years. This turbo is capable of 240 hp. You would need to run race gas or low compression to achieve that.

I've got the Hurricane kit and so far it's Awesome. The other big difference is in the install. The Hurricane kit is much simpler because none of the oil and coolant re-plumbing required on the MPI kit isn't required. I've installed both and its much much simpler to bolt in the Hurricane kit.

I love the XTX with the MPI settup. The XTX platform is the best one for running this kit. The uncoupled skid lets the sled rock back and pull the skis 12" and takes off. I have beaten F1100 turbos with no problems. There is no 800 on the market that will even stay close to it out to 100 mph. I rode this weekend with YamahaTim and a friend on Doo 800 several times we lined them up and the doo becomes a distant memory and the xtx will out pull the ltx with same turbo through midrange cause of gearing and the transfer.

Here is a link to a short vid I shot this weekend with Yamahatim launching my xtx a few times.

I think a race is in order to see which one really is the best :die

The funny this is, I'm pretty sure we were sitting across the bar from you and YamahaTim this past weekend at Bear Chasers. We could have easily raced. LOL

So you have to go to a dealer, instead of purchasing direct from MPI? Did something change from that's when you could by the boost direct from MPI?
