turbo RX-1 vs piped Mach Z just lookin 4 opinions

If you have a track with any damage at all do not run on a turbo sled you lose your track you lose all ability to stop trust me when a track spits out it seems like they go faster on the slide rails broken ribs pelvis collar bone bruised kidney it hurt bad . I replace the track every year . A sure sign is when you have to keep readjusting the tension of your track . cords are breaking bad things to come

Need for Speed 2, lakercr, shanksRX-1 - Thanks for the heads up on the track. I will take a very careful look at it while I have the drive axel out to change my worn out WahlBros extroverts for some Ski-Doo extrovert drivers.

Im right there with ya. I lost a track going down the road on a modded xc 700 as fast as it would go. (a joke compared to a turbo rx-1 but still moving quite fast) I was lucky to keep the sled straight until I could exit the road and hit the powder snow. However I have seen a friend spit a track on a modded vmax 4 that was very fast and he wasnt so lucky. I also saw a friend spit a track on a mach 1 at a radar run once and he got a fast ride in an ambulance. Im sure my track is structurally sound its just that one edge isnt as smooth as the other. If I notice it start to break down and I have to tighten it up more than a couple times this winter I will change it. If I had the money I would change my track every year too. as it is I usually end up changing it every other year or every 3 even when I was riding 700's I was changing my track if I kept a sled more than 2 or 3 years... I would really like to get through until next summer to change it though...

come to think of it I had a track shred once and tore everything all up. snow flap, taillight, bumper, heat exchangers, tunnel, seat. When big flaps of studded track start flying around at 100 it does a number on other components. I always loosen my track way up durring the off season also so it dosnt sit all summer stretching. I think this helps keep the life in the track longer

I just tried a quick drag race between my blower rx1 (11psi) and my brother's Dragon 700

I let him go first as the start signal, and then I started (about 1/2 second later).

I caugh him in about 2 seconds and passed by him really fast.. at least that is what he told me.

so there is no way you should have a problem smoking all them.

A Turbo vs a Z is a hole new world!!! The turbos are just UNREAL yea a 2 smoke is fast to about 30-40 but up where the big boys play they are WAY WAY off!! Change your track every year on a Turbo sled running 13psi or more. If you can buy a Turbo you can buy a track! Life is WAY to SHORT!!!!!!!

Thing is I think the wife might kick me out for buying the turbo... Im WAY over my allowance as it is. I will have to keep a close eye on my track this season and if it starts to get shady I will change it. I'll be changing it in the spring if I can hold out that long. Its gunna be a solid grand for the new track, studs, antiratchet drivers, and bearings.

Yea mine was the same way she is all good now!!! HA HA

Tell me about it haha, I smart checked the '03 RX-1 back in April 2002 without asking wifey for permission, guess I went a whole sled over my allowance. Mine is all good now as well :-), she even says if I want a new sled for next year, that's ok by her, and I can have a turbo on it if I like. MAN I love my wife, but it was a close call back in 2002 when she found out that I hade signed the smart check.

shanksRX-1, I hope your wife is as forgiving as mine. Good luck on your turbo install, get ready to kick butt out on the lake.

as wrong as I was, just don't say anything until she asks " what are you doing out in the garage that much?" Buy the time she figures out what and how much it was, its to late. And forgiveness is easier then permission.

Any How, my old lady rocks, as does everyone elses, that is why we married them, etc. But sometimes they don't understand what men think or do. I buy sh*t for my sled, and she knows this. it just took years to come to this agreement. Now all is good.

good luck to all
and hope for tons of snow, to justifiy what is spent every year by us on this lovely sport.

Hey AJ, You forgot everything I taught you. When they walk out in the garage your supposed to start picking your nose ,drool then pee your pants ,then they walk back in the house in disgust forgetting what they came out for in the first place. :jump:

Last season we where radar running on Constants bay, up in Ont and a guy with a Apex with a belt track blew it right in front of the radar gun.
At 165 mph he took out the radar gun, a guy with a camara and slid for over a 1/2 mile before jamming it it a snow bank to get stopped.

Any of you guys that run over 130 mph with a stock track are just asking to get bite in the a_s.

Ugly it was what happened in that vid. Better keep it below speed limit, then I will not have any trouble with the police officers either LOL
