I'm just telling you what I saw happen with my own eyes. If you want to turn this into a bitch fight I suggest you go to SnoWest, they seem to do a lot of that over there. I'm more interested in exchanging helpful information which will enable everyone to enjoy their sled as much as possible.

Hey TURBOFX I was wondering if I could trouble you for the part #'s on those gears you have tried out. I can't find them in the service manual.

Hey Boost no problem. What I have done is use srx gearing. I had a bunch of gears left over from srx days. The chain is much longer for a phazer so the srx chain is no good. Please note that hvo gears and chain are in the phazer and the srx had silent chain and gears. You have to space the bottom gear accordingly because of the wider chain and gears. On the top you have to use the 10mm spacer behind the brake disc from the srx. I got a chain and some gears from Wahl Brothers racing. They have a 1 800 number and they might have the larger HVO gears for you. Ask for Joel. If not use the srx gears they work, same spline just use a silent runner chain. Hope this helps.

XPRESS.....that isn't going to work. You still have back pressure hitting the back wall of the muffler. I'll try and post my mod.

Can anyone tell me how much the mc-x turbo kit cost for phazer fx?
Have any of you guys over there tried running stock head shim and 0,4-0,5bar boost?
When i called an MCX dealer they recomended this setup. Would be much less turbolagg and 120hp.

TURBOFX said:Rideblue, I understand what your getting at with the filter, but here me out. If you punch a hole straight out the back of the muffler you have no restriction and you still get the advantage of the baffle inside the muffler. The 2" whole saw piece you cut out will be used to block off the original exhaust hole outlet that you will cut off flush at the muffler by the filter. Now with the pipe cut off by the filter you have less chance of ice or condesation around your filter. All the heat is going straight out the back new exhaust exit. My filter is fine now because there is no hot pipe by it. By having that pipe and supposed fix by mcx you still get the snow melting by the filter. Oh yeah make sure you block the tunnel hole for the old exhaust outlet. Filter problem is cured. Please keep in mind I am a flatlander with lots of trail rideing and open lakes. I'm not a mountain guy. I need top end and not bottom end grunt.
Noise around here in the mountains is a big deal for the greenies and i dont want to give them anymore reasons to shut off our riding areas. So muffler mods are out for me! Part of the reason this kit is quiet is because the exhaust runs down into the tunnel. I would like my kids to ride the same stuff i do some day!
Even if you get the exhaust out the rear, the TURBO and muffler are still HOT and so is the air under the seat. That may be fine for low elevation flatland trail riding. In deep powder, snow will pack in around and under the seat, no matter how hot it gets, and starve the turbo of cold air and also allows exhaust gases from under the tunnel and seat to be sucked into the turbo.
Modifying the muffler only solves one of the two issuses. The heat is still under the seat. Moving the filter out from under the seat raised boost 2 or 3 psi at 11,000 ft and the sled runs consistant in all conditions. It is nowhere perfect yet, but headed in the right direction.
Riding here in colorado starts at 8000 ft if we're lucky and goes up from there. We need all the help we can get, even with boost. The best riding and snow is 10,000 to 12,000 ft. A lot of issues we have up here never show up down low where the air is much denser and snow is wetter and heavier.
If the muffler mod is working for you, thats great! Just will not fix it up here. So if any mountain guys out there are having issuse, try getting the filter out from under the seat along with what ever muffler mods you do.

Where do you route the intake and where do you mount the filter?

Go check out my post in MC-X air filter upgrade. The number for Vernon Motorsports is 250-545-5381. This kit will solve all of your deep snow problems. I went out for my first ride yesterday since I installed my 151 and 9 tooth drivers and hills I was getting stuck in with the 144 I was jumping off of with even more snow.

Rideblue said to get the filter out from under the seat. Where else could it possibly go?
