Hey, I'm looking to buy a Nitro MXT in the next few winters, and I'd be interested in installing a turbo. I'd probably go with a MC Express front mount, (if possable) And I would only want around 180-200 HP, so not very high boost. What would I have to do to be able to run it on pump gas? I want a kit that I can install, and pretty much forget about it. Any Ideas or thoughts?

I think if 180-200 HP is your goal then an MPI stage 1 SC is the better route.

Mcx is a rear mount closer than the apex or rx1 but still a rear mount

TurboJamie, why would you say that? easier to install? Cheaper? I would the like the the option of cranking it to around 250 hp if I ever felt like it. With a SC I would have to upgrade to a stage two right? as far as I know super chargers have a fixed boost level.
Nitro, I thought Mcx made a rear mount, mid mount, and a front mount? But that's for the apex I guess. Do they only have a rear mount for for the nitro MTX? I'm just trying to get as little lag as possable. But I guess if I went with a sc like turbojamie said, then I wouldn't have to worry about lag.

Your rigth you are stuck at a boost level with the SC. The SC on the nytro is a simple install and very clean, have seen one first hand. I would not go with the mid mount turbos on one they are way to hacked looking, for my pref anyways. The MC X is the only other option I would concider on the nytro from what is being offered so far. $$$ wise they are probably all very close.

I'm going with McXpress. The lag should be minimal, (coming from a very respected Yamaha rep) and you can get 240ishHP on pump fuel.

Ok, thanks guys, This will give me something to think about this winter. O one more thing, by pump fuel, do you mean, 87 octain? or 91? In my town I don't know if I can even get 91 octain gas.

What?
to get any good hp on pump fuel you need lower compression
Then, to get MINIMAL lag .... you'll need the higher compression back.
So... I would say BS

Front mount with head shim = no lag. Never ridden a rear mount so I can't say. The SC also has zero lag.

I run a SC with 9-1 JE pistons... and have no lag either aaaaaaaaa
Turbo with shim... is not that good anyway.

you guys are starting to steer me toward a SC, sound's like it would be best for how I would use it, a lot of flat land riding, but not much groomed trails though. And about 3 trips to the mountains per year. I'm just addicted to the big HP. Feels awsome knowing you can pull the skis up no matter where you are.

Mulot keep in mind thats with a headshim..........but no one will know for sure until you put one on a dyno. Wait McXpress already did that

not true. the pulleys can be swapped to differentt ratios to raise or lower boost levels depending on how much boost you want. keep in mind how much you THINK you will want and purchase the stage 2 and slow the compressor down to get lower boost and speed it up to get more. just cant go over the 150000 rpm max on theblower. just keep in mind that once you have boost [too much] will not be enough guaranteed!TurboJamie said:Powder Pounder said:TurboJamie, why would you say that? easier to install? obile, yeah, good idea, start with a stage two, and just slow it down, your last coment is what I'm scared of. lol
Are super chargers a install and go kit? I suppose I would be running a stage one or two. I don't want something where I have to worry about my engine all the time, that the reasen I'm going four stroke. Don't want to throw reliability away for more HP.
