Purchased my Apex turbo last spring and pretty much rebuilt the entire driveline, chassis and skid over the past few months. The engine had maybe a thousand kilometers on a rebuild with low comp pistons, carillo rods, etc., etc. It has been averaging -30c here so there has been nothing but short rides. As stated in my previous post I am experiencing boost spikes but have been only running minimum boost which is I believe 7lbs. However my guage will jump to as high as 11 before settling. Typically the sled sits in a heated shop however I was warned that if it was allowed to freeze up it would over boost until thawed. Is this because the actuator arm freezes? As I have been reading through the threads here I have also found that I may have to remove a ball and spring from the system as it has been equipped with a turbo smart controller. Is this applicable to an Apex application with a MCX260 turbo reflashed to accept 14psi? Your assistance, guidance, input is greatly appreciated as I endeavor to ascend this new learning curve.

Spring and ball removed, spikes due too freezing?

It's possible for the Controller to freeze up at -30C. Where is Your Controller installed? Will it thaw up when the sled is at operating temps?
Your map is set for 14 lbs, why not crank up the boost Controller and see what happens, Your engine will survive at 17 lbs for short periods of time. You're running Premium fuel I assume.

Controller mounted above left footwell, -15c today, will be afforded an opportunity to run it without freezing my extremities off! Yes running 91. Thank you.

I would recommend 93 octane if you're going to run past 10 lbs boost.

Or you can add Torco octane booster to be on the safe side.
