ulmer clutch kit question

Problem is that Yamaha did not use their best secondary for the Phazer, they have used an older version. Backshift sucks...
Maybe it works good enough for standard power, but for the turbo everybody recommends to throw it away. The Team secondary is what most people I have talked to have recommended.

You will have to call Team and confirm that their secondary will fit on the Phazer shaft as it is different than previous 1997-2007 Yamaha's. I will be testing with a secondary from a 1994-1996 Yamaha next week to compare.

Yes I understood that there was some differences in the shaft. The secondary from vmax4 -94-96 should fit, but I don't know why this one is better than other yamaha secondaries from the same years ?

The secondary from any Yamaha Vmax from 1995-1996 will work. This secondary is the exact same as Yamaha is still using on the Apex, Vector, etc except for the spline length being different. It will allow you more tuning options with helixes and so on. I have yet to see any roller secondary perform better than a properly setup Yamaha setup (when using the style that is on the SX, SRX, Viper, RX-1, Apex, etc).

Because its the only one that fits :tg: No other secondary from yamaha will fit. It was "one of a kind" on the v-max 800's :die

Have nothing to do with that its better than other secondary from same years.

So you are saying that the Phazer secondary also is one of a kind ? I am sure that Team has shaft adaptors for the Phazer ;)!

OK a secondary from ANY Vmax of those years, that sounds better ;)!

I havent studied the phazer secondary, only read what other have said about it.

I have had a v-max 800 year 1995 and there was no other secondary from any yamaha model, who fitted on this.

I have also heard that you can remove some part of the splines to make them fit, or also use just the outer half of a newer model, as the inner sheaves are similar to each other ?

Dont know.. Have heard about people who have machined the splines but never about removing some parts of it... How can you remove parts from this splines???

Have you ever opened a secondary like this?

I meant machine a part of the shaft where the splines are, you probably know what I meant to say :tg:
No I haven't opened one like this, but one of the scooternorway/HSP forum "experts" told me it could be done.

But our friend Srxspec said any Vmax.

By the way, I ofcourse meant to macine out some part of the splines in the secondary. I guess :tg:

Ok. But a secondary from a v-max 600 would not fit on a v-max4 visaversa.

Also, I dont think the secondary from 1994 v-max4 750 would fit either. Not the same as on the 800 if I not remember wrong.

Here is one from a 1995 Vmax 600, it will fit on. Any that looks like this from 1995-1996 will fit.
