As this season winds down I am planning the summer Viper project. I think that I am going the all Ulmer route and have a few questions for anyone that has also gone this way. My thought as of now is this; Ulmer clutch kit, full Ulmer exhaust, and the Power Commander.

My questions are;
  1. Does the Power Commander just plug into the stock ECU?
  2. I though I saw the header and silencer offered before as a kit?
  3. Is the ignition module needed along with the Power Commander?
  4. I don't care if this one crossed the 100 mark, rather I want a really fast trail sled that will push the 100 mark when we hit the lake. Is it worth have the clutch machined?
  5. It says the Power Commander comes with a flash. I assume that when you buy everything together that flash will be designed to optimize everything you just bought to work together?
Thank you in advance.

call Allen Ulmer and he will answer all of your questions for you. He is a very honest and helpful resource on vipers and all the products he sells

I personally wouldn’t bother with machining the clutches just to run an 8dn. Adding washers to adjust the deflection is all that is needed especially with an aftermarket helix or secondary spring since they eliminate binding. I’m running an 8JP length Gates carbon and it gets past the century mark under IDEAL conditions. I’ve hit 101 GPS with stock gearing (geared for 105 @ 1:1) and 102 GPS geared down (geared for 98 @ 1:1) with Quiet Can, Airbox mod, and Big Venom clutch kit. It a fun sled from 30-80 and pulls pretty good low 90’s on the trail which is all need.

Watching this thread closely. I sent Mr. Ulmer an email on my new Viper over the weekend. Not sure to what length I am going to go yet, but the sled definitely needs just a little bit more than it has.

I'll reply with the same thing I sent to @VyperNation

The Viper is a really quick 0-80 mph machine in factory form. To get more above that takes a fair amount of work and good conditions to get good top end. Options we can do I will list in order as I would purchase them.

1-Muffler
2-Clutching
3-Cold air intake kit
3-Power Commander & Ignition Module (91 octane fuel mapping)
4-Header

We can machine the secondary clutch (I wouldn't bother with the primary) as well and switch over to a 8DN belt for more consistent performance.

Would going with a low boost turbo, gears and clutch get similar results?

Low boost turbo will knock the socks off of a NA setup, if the turbo is setup correctly.
