UP "Family" Ride....any interest?

Update....I did a bit of scouting over the Christmas holidays, and I have a really nice route scouted out. It will be a mix of trail, lake, and forest roads . About 65 miles round trip from Curtis.

I have a spot picked out for the bonfire (about 1/3 of the way), and then I figure we'll hit the Hot Dog stand north of Seney at the 2/3 point.

The route can easily be extended if we get some hard core riders.

I just checked the calander and decided to pick two dates...one in January and one in February.

The first ride will be Saturday January 23.

The second ride will be Saturday February 20.

This is a 3 day weekend (at least for my daughters school). The kids get Friday (Feb 19) off, so may be able to hook up and ride if anyone is interested.

Please note that this is a family event, so no alcohol please.

I'll bring the matches and a buck saw to cut a bit of wood...all you need to bring is your own food (what ever can easily be cooked over a fire) and drink.

If the temps are bitter cold, we'll skip the bonfire and ride to some place where we can eat inside (most likely Grand Marais).

As usual, this is a "ride at your own risk" thingy.

Bob,

The dates should work for me. I took a ride from home/Curtis to Grand Marais today the "back way". It was great, 6-8 inches of fresh powder from overnite. I only saw 4 other sleds in 130 miles.

Hope to see you this weekend.

John

If my son-in-law doesn't come up from OH I might ride over there on the 23rd.........provided you don't start TOO early LaLaLa

I figure we'll meet up about 10:00 am on the edge of Big Manistique Lake just north of Curtis and head out from there.

If you ride over, you could join up with us in Seney....if ya' decide to trailer over, you can park at my cabin (I'll pm ya' directions).

So far, turn out is pretty low....just Johnboy and me.

I'd probably ride over........takes me about 2 hrs. to Seney from my place...... mainly 'cause of the roundabout way you have to go..... :o|

That's why I thought you might trailer...

Only if I can borrow my buds trailer......I busted the front shock off of mine (the one that keeps it tilted) and have been too lazy to take it to get welded back on. Besides, seems like I only use the sucker every couple of years. I'll think about the borrow factor........ LaLaLa

Well...it looks like a rather dismal turn out for the first family ride.

So far, Budda2 and Johnboy are the only ones showing up....oh well, we'll still have a good time!

Well...thats it...I'm out 'da door!

If you're not "signed up" by now, yer' gonna miss out.

You can catch us as we head north thru Seney tomorrow morning around 10:30 ish!

OK...the turnout for the first TY family ride was a bit light. :o|

Buddah2 showed up though  , and we still had a great ride!

Here are a couple of pictures:

The next ride is "scheduled" for Saturday Feb 20...if there is no interest this time, I'll graciously let this thread die. :tg:
