I beg to differ, larger and extra wheels are definitely the way to reduce slider wear. I have the Doo 135mm idlers and two extra wheels and my sliders have 1500 miles on them and they literally look like new. I did a quite a bit of road riding this year and I am impressed with the wear I am getting with the set-up I now have.

I cut mine out as well. Just over 4000 miles on the sliders. Still not down to the wear line. If you start cutting your track have lots of patience and go slow!

Dude?
More like 1 mph difference.
Dude!
Changed out all wheels/bearing and added SLP anit-wear pads to my 7000-mile '06 Apex last fall. Last year best top MPH was in the 107 range on the dream-o-meter. This year I can easily pull it into the low 120's. I did the math again and I am the one riding the sled.

For what it's worth, I just removed all the SLP anti-wear pads from my track. After 4500 miles they're worn quite a bit and in the last 2 rides, I've lost the right side hyfax, that's right, lost as in gone, all that's left is a 3" section that's still bolted to the front of the rail. All I can figure is that the wear pads are digging into the hyfax and ripping them off the rail. Going back UP this weekend, so we'll see if it happens again.

What exactly do these wear pads look like? It looks like I got some grooving on my hyfax. Where to look?
