changed my cover on dec. 20/o6 its leaking again same spot at the bottom of the cover we do a lot of high speed running around here between this and my hotgrips im getting upset with yamaha upgrades my dealers great with the service so you guys running fast keep an eye on your case maybe i got a bad one but i doubt that my dipstick is open up more then normal i dont get it

Damn...that is weird,i just got my new cover and saw the difference in the 07 cover, where it has better contact with the seal...

I assume you got new gasket too?....did the dealer do it or you?...

mine is good so far

Dan

yes i put a new gasket once with the old cover and it leaked on the first trip out the second cover lasted 700 miles i do all my own work i still own a 93 machz and replaced tracks and bearings and never changed an oring ever better system

another good reason for my non reverse 06 rtx, will have it back together tomorrow and will post some pics tomorrow night of rear skid and trails, lots of grooming going on now

Are you using a torque wrench to tighten the bolts? IMO, that is very important in this case....

What is the torque spec. for the 3-12mm bolts and 2-14mm bolts that are on the outside, along with the 10mm bolt that is in the center of the cover?

I don't recall right now...but it was something like 17 ft lbs. and the little guy is 7 maybe? I know I posted it on here before...somewhere...

maybe you guys can come up here with your turbos on our lakes and run wide open for 20 miles at a time

How many of you with 06's have actually had this problem. I have not yet seen it on mine but i did have the cover off this past weekend when i changed my track. Still have not had a chance to test everything out. I will be doing that this weekend.

You need to try some synthetic oil with energy release added. I have never seen this problem either as some have. There again, all my machines get energy release additive too.

thats what im thinking to i will try the silicone first for the weekend and i will talk to my dealer early next week to see what were going to do for the fix
