i have an 08 rtx and need stiffer springs, i've read about a few ppl on here using the venture lite springs. my first problem is i was told by my local yamaha dealer that they wont fit, all angles are wrong, but ppl have done it so i dont know why the dealer told me that. 2nd, will it make a big enough difference to put em in???

dealers are sometimes a poor source for info like that.
your springs are 2500 nmm and venture springs are 3000 nmm (a big jump).
make sure they are the same length etc.

yea the dealer told me the ratings i just didnt know if 500 is that much. and i guess the venture springs are a lil long and i would just have to shorten them a lil bit

are you a heavy rider, are you looking for more bottoming resistance - have you tried putting in the bottom stops to resist bottoming - you should be able to ramp up your center clicker - i'm 240 and I run my clicker all the way out (soft) and only bottom occasionally , but I don't do much jumping.

I weigh 140 and when I jump I seem to come down real hard. Would getting on the gas right before I land, help out?

yea i think it would. also if your landing on flat thats gonna make it worse. and u have a gt, im not sure if you've done anything to the suspension but a stock gt is deff not gonna b good jumping

Yea I hear ya there about it only being a GT, but at my weight I shouldn't be bottoming out.
Now my theory on why you need to get on the gas is that when your in mid-air, not on the gas the track slows down and its like hitting a wall so to speak. We all know Phazers and snowmobiles in general have good engine breaking so when I come down my track speed is down and it slows my body and the speed that the machine is traveling at(not track speed) resulting in a harsh landing.
When you watch any sled vid, braaap, slednecks, they all get on the gas as they are about to land. I havent had a chance to test this so ya.
The torsion spring on my sled and set at medium and the front(back suspension) shock is turned almost all the way up. The dealer has even said, no way that I should be bottoming and I don't jump it hard at all. I also have no probs with the front suspension, but I still might see about getting stiffer springs.

yea its deff gonna land softer when your on the gas, first of all when u land u want the track to hit lust a lil be4 the skis and to get the front end up in the air if u need to u have to b on the gas and yea u should land smoother.

Yea I knew that much. I'm not new to jumpin dirtbikes but sleds on the other hand, well thats a diff story.

yea pretty much the same concept, i think. i ride 4wheelers mostly, dirtbikes every once in a while but ive never jumped a dirtbike

If the GT has the steel nonrebuildable shocks you need a good rear one at least.I weigh same as you and only way I could keep it from bottoming with stock shocks was to run the torsions all the way stiff and then it had way to fast rebound and would kick in back like mule.Replaced rear shock and now run on soft torsion setting. Its awesome!

What shock did you replace it with?

Custom Axis.Best $500 I ever spent on any sled.
