viper diet....

So insanely sick! Just awesome...guess you don't plan on any night riding?

Did this carbon guy make those parts custom just for you?

nope no night riding I come from the land of the mid night sun..... no these parts are available to the public on his web site
http://patrickcustomcarbon.com/index.ph ... ory_id=168
Not sure if this was a first run on these parts for the Yamaha or not bust the quality was incredible!! The mold was so good you could see the ripples were the bolts dug into the original plastics.

Checked out Patrick's site ... you gonna pop for a CF tunnel? CF side panels would be killer if they're available.

not sure yet, budget pending hahah
Still got lots left to do for power adders, intake, hindle exhaust, pcv stroker ect.

Did a little tinkering last night
Put in 8BU weights
first hole 3.6g
outer hole 4.5g
stock spring for now
14.5 rollers
secondary 39 degree helix
white spring @ 6 and 2

Hope it over revs just a bit so the when I get the larger track put in it will pull it down to 88-8900 rpm.
will report how it goes, hope to go for a rip this afternoon, should warm up to -20

;)! Nice ;)! Good info

The snap rings on the ends of the axle shaft are what hold it in alignment with in the tunnel. One outside the brake rotor and the other holding the gear on. I found that is much easier to re-install the last snap ring if you use a ratchet strap to pull the running boards in slightly.

Removing the tunnel protectors saves 2lbs 4oz
Swapping out the tunnel extension adds 6oz and the longer bumper adds another 3oz.
The stock 141" skid is 41lbs and a 153" skid with 2 idler wheels removed and ice scratchers added is 43lbs
Stock 1.6 Cobra track is pretty light, only 40 pounds, while a 153" 2.6" Powerclaw is 57lbs! Actually 57lbs is about par for most mountain tracks and just looking at it screams traction!LOL

The list so far
38" front end and sway bar, brackets, misc removal -3lbs 10oz
removed tunnel protectors -2lbs 4oz
Shorai Lithium battery -11lbs
153" tunnel ext +6oz
153 bumper +3oz
153 skid +2lbs
153 Powerclaw track +17lbs

Parts coming
BDX rear skid arm kit -4lbs 8oz
drilled lightweight brake rotor -1lb 8oz
I'm probably not going to get to carried any with the weight loss yet, mainly looking to off-set the added weight of the longer track!

You may have to go to shorter shocks though, the 38" front ends use 17.1" long shocks. At first I was going to shim my 18.6" stockers but then realized that the compressed distance would probably be still to long, so I ended up going with the float 3s for the M chassis.

I wouldn't run BDX rear arms again for various reasons, but the weight loss on my 2011 Float skid was a little over 6 lbs if you include the grease. I would imagine it's the same for the Viper.

Nice build!
You never weighed the sled before you started the diet?

I did and I think it was around 534 or 544 I would have to go back through my notes and look

full of oil ect and what ever fuel was in it for the PDI.
Today I adjusted my clutching again
I ended up being 1000 rpm short so I drilled out all the rivets and ran the 8BU weight empty, it is not sitting at 8550. Perfect! Short on rpm until the full exhaust and intake show up. Those two bolt parts should gain me a few rpm.

Just started my track and driver swap..
while draining the engine oil I disconnected the bottom line and nothing came out :o| full of ice... now I think this might be a one off problem the machine only has 150 kms on it.

chain tension bolt

taking the evo chamber off my 18.5 shocks and going to try to install them on my 17.1 shocks for the 38" stance

this should leave me with 17.1" evo r shocks and a set of 18.5 float three's!
more pictures to come. AND good bye reverse

QUICK UPDATE
I and our mechanic had to press the brake assy off the drive shaft. with 150 kms on the machine the disk was seized on the shaft. We will be replacing the disk and c-clips holding it on.
once the disk was pressed off we are not able to get it more than 1/4" on the drive shaft...? picts soon

When I changed my track there was about 50mls of water poured out the oil bung. The oil was really milky. Not sure what that was all about.

I was able to get brake off but it was hard to get it back on. I also had to modify the clip to hold it on as there was not enough room to get it started.

I am concerned about the water in the oil though. It was a significant amount and weird that you noticed it too.
