viper diet....

I have put this on street bikes before it looks really good but you need a tone of patience to put it on.

Fore sure. Is tough as heck though. I like to use big shrink tubing or electrical tape on the ends to finish it off. Always burn the ends like you would a rope also so it doesnt unravel.

had some free time this morning and no new parts have been dropped off.... still missing the OFT three wheel big nut kit.
Had some red rescue tape on had so I figured I would spruce up some of the dull oil lines and give them some protection from rubbing on each other.
If you have never seen rescue tape look it up!!

next will be the small oil line off of the catch tank, I just ran out of tape.

All right, I have run into a problem with deleting my reverse! something I completely over looked. Now who would have ever guessed that your top drive gear would not have splines?? :o|

here is how the drive gear spins.... the reverse gear locks into the main drive gear

without the reverse set up on the shaft there is no way to keep the gear in place. The end of the shaft is not splined to take a bolt, with out a bolt the gear would rub against the case and wear through.

so back the drawing board... so as for now I will have to keep reverse on the machine.
Tonight I hope that I will be able to put on the 38" front end.

yep we have one on staff second year.... we are talking about threading the end of the shaft and cutting the head of a bolt down... only problem is my time crunch. :o|

Thanks for going through all the trouble to document all of this here... It really is appreciated and this is a pretty kick #*$&@ thread!

Again the best girl friend ever let me work on my sled for another two hours and come out and had dinner with me in the shop! Gotta love a lady like that!
Next Yamaha parts on an arctic cat hybrid don't fit so well so far........ but arctic cat a-arms on a yamacat sure as hell just bolt right on!! Installed my 38" front end with new shocks to fit. I didn't install the spacer kit for my 18.5 evols that comes with the kit, just didn't have time. Instead I ordered evol chambers for the new shocks and they should be here in 2-3 weeks! Gonna have to sell the 18.5 evols
sorry about the bad picture, this was the only surprise on the whole build!~~~~~ these two nuts suck! If you have an aftermarket bumper you need to take it off to get to these two nuts! other than that it was un bolt re-bolt

boots are off

inside under the nose cone for the steering adjustment

BOOM new front end on and needing a ski alignment but that can weight till tomorrow.

OVER ALL JOB 4/10 FOR DIFFICULTY if you have the proper shock length to fit the kit.

I have been racking my brain on how to get rid of reverse! I think I have it beat! In the end of the jack shaft there was a big ball of grease, my first thoughts was that it was a plug, until I cleaned it out with a pick and realized that the grease was covering up THREADS! I no longer had to think of a way to tap a hardened steel shaft..... I searched all day to find a collar with an ID 1" that was about .75" long.

Now all I needed was a bolt and a big enough washer to keep the spacer in place.

good looking bolt and nut, chain case didn't fit, the bolt hit the cover :o| :o|
plan B.... new bolt with Allen key head and a taper with a flat head to save space.

With this bolt the head would center the washer, keep it tight, save room and fit in the chain case cover!!!

After all my excitement and a small :drink: I moved on to the anti stab kit.

This is how I deleted the reverse on my cat after multiple failures. Make sure you use a steel sleve, and rec loctite the bolt in place. Also do not make the sleve fit the gear / washer tight the gear needs to float a few thou or it will tear the bushing out.

I did leave a little space for the bushing to float, did you put a washer on both sides of the bushing?
