TD's sled, I didn't do the clutching on it that day testing, but I did test ride it and got 94mph out of it (no turbo). Asked TD to recall the GPS and it wasn't on.
Weasel's sled and his brothers sled made big improvements.... but don't remember the mph numbers.
Wish Weasel33 lived closer so I could experiment more. From the post just above yours....it seems like they hit 100mph[/QUOTE
Right on, the sleds you did, did you machine the primary and secondary clutches to achieve that speed ? And what conditions were you running outta curiosity ?
The problem I was having last year was I had the wrong helix in the secondary , so after about 80 mph it would shift down and rev between 8400-8600 top end , but after talking to dave he set it up different my with a different helix and machined the clutches for me, - wondering if the helix could be part of the problem for others ? I still havnt had a chance to test it obviously no snow ... Just a thaught (I do have the turbo but I was running Dave's clutch kit from day one)

Everyone says good things let me know how it works out once the snow flies if you decide to do that. You keeping the stock gearing?

Anyone with the le from last year do any better ? Anyone do any mods over the summer ?
I was hitting anywhere from 85-95 with a turbo, got the clutches machined now see what will happen, tho I do have a 41 tooth bottom gear to put back in and play with- hoping to see 100 mph consistany with stock gearing still- just need some snow !
I'm planning to regear from 21/49 (2.33) to 24/49 (2.04) this season. I think that the gearing is holding it back badly and Weasel seems to have found the same.

Good choice. Much easier to clutch for lowend punch than top end speed.

Yes I have stock gearing, could get to 95 last year on nice hard trails with just spring changed.

Hey guys how's it going? On my last ride of the season I hit 93 mph, which is the best I've ever seen. That was around 9 am and the trails were flat and hard. But, on the way back around six hours later and it warming up to around 38 degrees, I could only hit 74 mph....... on the exact same trail! The only diff was hard packed trail to mash potatoes. I couldn't believe the difference, my brother Rex le did the exact same thing as mine, lost 20 mph because of conditions. This sled is soooooo condition sensitive it's almost hard to believe. I wish I could get the sled to be more consistent in all conditions. Oh Curtis, my brother has ulmers clutch kit and it's not the answer, I wish it would have been that easy.
Weasel did you notice your Rpms at 93 and 74? The solution to this is POWER! But you know even a 1000cc Turbo 2st will only go about 50mph or so in bottomless powder up a mountain. Conditions can be huge!

Cannon, I can't remember what my rpms were. I was riding with a guy on an 800 etec, he blew by me and my brother like we were sitting still. When I asked him if he notice a big mph difference he said he was only down a couple mph, not 20.

Wow that sucks. Have you added any mods yet? Not saying you will beat the 800 on top because you won't without engine work but a pipe and airbox would help.

I think it has a lot to do with the track lug on the LE. On the spring Munising ride in mashed potato snow she was ahead of me on the Renegade 900 ACE and at times I tried and could not catch her. I could gain some, but that sled had every bit as much top speed as my Viper or more especially considering she is not a speed freak and really had to step up her game to keep up with the group.
Yea you better do something. That's bad!I think it has a lot to do with the track lug on the LE. Maybe you have to much weight on the ski's. Try more transfer.

Well TD we will see. My brothers track started coming apart so he is getting a new track from Yamaha. They gave him two option, a new snowcross track or a ripsaw2, he got the ripsaw. When we get some snow we will definitely be doing some testing. I hope it's as easy as replacing the track, I could see it robbing some mph but 20, that's a lot. Time will tell.

Most curious to hear how this works out. I've tried all sorts of clutching options and this thing just will not pull weight.
I regeared to 24/49 and with the Ulmer setup and nothing in the mid or tip just 1T and 2w in heel I pull 8400 RPM. Total weight 60.25g
Big Venom weighing in at 57.28g same RPM. I would have to do the math, but I ended up dropping at least 2g more to get 8600-8700.
At this point I'm so sick of clutching. Contemplating changing my gearing back, but I'm also thinking I might need to just run a lower angle helix to slow the shift...
