Oh happy days...just got my sled back from warranty work to replace the broken rear shock and damage to the track and having the rear skid shocks revalved by Hygear and was just about finished when I tried to start the sled to adjust the track and the battery was dead...wtf...so checked to see if both battery cables where tightened, nothing there so put it on charger overnight then next morning I tried to start the sled to adjust the track and heard a loud grinding with the starter then it started but next start the same grinding noise after 4th time the starter died and only loud grinding from starter...got on the phone with the dealer and had him listen to the starter and he said bring it in, seems that he has had 3 other "starter" failures 2 on the Viper and one on a Arcticat 7000. Contacted Yamaha customer rep about this starter issue and they said they would expedite parts to my dealer to get me back on the trails asap, but my faith in this sled is going south fast...broken rear shock, damaged track, broken shock link, improper clamped gas line connectors, and now dead battery and failed starter...all this and only have 189 miles on the sled this year...yeah this is what I signed up for...not...missed riding for week between christmas and waited weeks to get warranty work done then was going on another week vacation to the UP today...not happening either on the Viper...by the time I get it back I will have made 4 payments and a grand total of 189 miles that comes out to $6 per mile...Oh happy days

Wow that is terrible. Just to clarify. Not all those issues happened to your sled it was yours and your buddies right?
