I agree, I loved my Nytro and put a lot of money and time setting it up. And the Viper out does the Nytro almost everywhere. The Nytro was tough as hell and time will tell if the Viper will take a beating? But the Viper is bad a$$!

My 1976 STX was a first year sled, ZERO issues.
My 1980 SRV was a first year sled, ZERO issues.
My 1997 XT 500 was a first year sled, ZERO mechanical issues but had ride and handling issues. Took time and money to fix.
My wife's 2002 Viper was a first year sled, ZERO mechanical issues but rode like a steel wheeled manure spreader, Yamaha came up replacement (better sprung and calibrated) shocks. Again time and money.
My wife's 2014 Viper (XTX), so far a bad hot grip out of the box, but was incredibly easy to set up ride and handling, 800 KLM. time for first service with no further issues.
I am getting very tired of hearing about first year sled issues, my experience with first year sleds in 41 years of riding Yamaha have all been very good mechanically, its ride and handling that has been a problem.
IF NO ONE EVER BOUGHT FIRST YEAR SLEDS THERE WOULD BE NO SECOND YEAR SLEDS.

I dont agree. No more issues than past Yamahas. It was bought from Yamaha, says Yamaha on it,Yamaha warranty and sure sounds like a Yamaha to me. Its a Yamaha. If you dont think so you are wrong. Is no different than Nippondenso spark plugs or all the electronics and outsourced parts every Yamaha has on it. Do they make it something else? No. Dont have to get used to anything. Yamaha needs to make corrections and take care of customers. They have and I have no doubt they will. There is no reason to say what you did Turbo it is a useless statement.
So what model Viper do you have? Or are you just another dingleberry complaining about issues that are NYTRO like the stuck relays we all know of and calling it Cat issues?
Just so you know the Nytro is absolute crap compared to the Viper. And yes I had two diff Nytros one boosted.
Wow! Where were you and YamahaTim when I posted my Buyer's remorse thread in the Nytro forum? It got deleted by the mods just like I bet this thread does. Evidentially a guy needs to get on here really late at night to read the truth about the problems. Last week I almost traded my sled in on an Indy and then slept on it and thought I was making a brash decision. I can see I was not. Dealer opens on Tuesday, I'll be their with my ill handling trade in Nytro.

Sounds like the starter relay stuck , this happened on my nytro as well and I didn't know and burnt out the starter , so I guess what I'm saying is it's just not the viper that does this
Again make a call to the dealer in the morning !
Yes god forbid he tell the truth..

Yes do buy a Polaris because they are so well built you will have nothing to complain about.

I read that a little different than you did but in text things sometimes are hard to read intent. I read that to say contact your dealer and see if this is a known issue (as this one is) from the Nytro.... or the Cat and learn what it is before bashing in an open forum. Some of us with the Viper are getting very tired of hearing how bad this sled is when it is not.
So, you can read the threads about hard hot starting or go to other boards and read of brand new engines exploding. Or clutches (ski doo) on new sleds already on warranty. And loose hose clamps threads....you did know that the dealer has a PDI check list where that is suppsed to be checked? And didn't you sign this same sheet as I did? My dealer DID check everything on the list as I stood around and watched most of it.
But anyways, like I said some of us are getting tired of reading the sky is falling. Truth is good, misrepresenting the truth is not ...to me anyways. By that I mean a post that implies all our Vipers are going to have this issue is misreprenting the truth in my opinion.

These forums are for information. I'm sorry as you say some vipers owners don't like reading about issues. Also if your viper is so good why do you care what is posted?? When you bought your viper did was is a requirement that you must defend it as well?
Ride what you like and ignore what's posted. Let me tell you it's a bad idea to try to hide issues

Right on Brother... ride what you like, post your questions and quit whining, all sleds are not perfect. If the sled is under warranty take it to the dealer... the site should not be fixing your sled, your dealer should be.
I have had a few hot start problems and have seen the same hot start codes ... the map for some reason with hot start is a little messed up and so far it has always started. It will always fires cold for me.... If the sled dont fire right off the bat hot then turn the key off until the gauge is out wait a few min, then turn key on, let gauge come on completely and she will fire...if not, do it again...
If you crank and crank and crank it it fires... you may see the code and it will hang onto that code until the sled is turned off and restarted.

We have heard all about your Nytro problems over and over... you dont want any advice from any of us that have made changes to the sled, you want to pick at an old problem... so my suggestion to you is... go sell your sled and buy something that makes you happy and quit wasting our time with old problems....
