WAR with Yamaha NEED HELP

The dealers are authorized to replace the seat cover if it is ripped by wearing on "the" rivet. The update also includes relocating the offending rivet. There is a bulletin and a claim proceedure it's very straight forward and the dealer gets paid...it should not be a problem or a war that's for sure. I've done a bunch its not an a big deal.

Just the 03's

I think only the 03 RX-1's had this problem. In 04 they fixed the problem I think. Mine filled with water then froze solid. My 03 seat ripped on both sides. All Yamaha wanted to do was replace the seat cover which does'nt fix the problem. I wanted an 04 seat in place of the 03 seat and I even offered to pay the difference and Yamaha said no! I had a local guy redo mine and it looks a works even better than new. Good Luck!

Yeah its an 03 problem. I didn't realize how old this post was...no wonder there was a problem with warranty. All of the seat bolsters seem to collect water, the sx seats used to freeze too but I guess there was no rivet to rub on...

I FINALLY got my seat replaced (well, it should be replaced...I'm supposed to pick up the sled tomorrow) with an entire '04 seat. I had to fight with the dealer AND Yamaha to get it done. Basically, they originally only wanted to replace the cover, but since my foam was ripped and cracked inside, they replaced the whole assembly. The dealer checked on an '03 seat, found they are out of production because of updates to the '04's, and ordered me an '04 seat. Of course neither the dealer or Yamaha said anything about my calls having any effect, but it just happened that they decided to do this the day after I talked with Yamaha, 2 months after I originally brought the sled in and they ordered the seat cover, which still hadn't come in after 2 months.
