Water Meth

Hmm so stupid question but Meth injection i figured i would be running Methanol.... how is windshield washer fluid enough to prevent detonation, or increase pump gas to be safe with higher boost levels.

I work on a 360 sprint car pit crew, we run straight methanol for fuel, so access to methanol wasnt a problem....ie why i figured it would be convienent.

You could, but you don't have to run methanol, but with easy access and the know how to treat methanol safely you can use it the same way as most use alcohol.

Windshield fluids contains a lot of alcohol, we want the alcohol to prevent the water from freezing. Line Hurricane said, what we're after is the water. Water has an octane rating 8 times higer than the best fuel there is, that's why we can use water in small amounts to prevent detonation from happening and at the same time help cool down hotspots in the combustion chamber, another spin off is cooler headers that doesn't crack as easily as those glowing red hot all the time.

So id run a 50/50 methanol/water mix? or something along those lines?... what about the corrosion factor inside the motor i have heard mixed reports on the side effects of a motor after it has been run on some of the different injections ... I have read that other thread couldnt really draw accurate conclusions from that thread. thanks

No, there are no consensus if or how much alcohol or methanol corrode the engine internals. Running straight alco or meth would be corrosive but we're talking very small amounts of meth/alco flushed thru our engine.... I don't really know, so far I can't tell if I run meth or not except from looking at the piston dome which are virtually free from carbon buildup.
