I am seeing more and more mixed results with the reflash. Last year 2 different viper sleds, 1500-1600 miles each, not an issue other than a couple hot starts but only had to crank an extra 2-3 seconds to get them to start. Take it to the dealer in the fall for the reflash update and yesterday was the first ride on the sleds since the reflash and both sleds rpm hunt during idle along with a couple of other weird issues. Viper #1 had a few more issues than Viper #2. Yesterday Viper #1 was having a lot of issues starting when it was warmed up. Sometimes it would start and then stall right away. Sometimes it would start and stumble to life and stay running and sometimes it would start and run fine. Another thing it did a few times was randomly stall when coming down to an idle at road crossings. Not sure what that was all about. One time after 3-4 several second cranking attempts with no fire, on the last try, the sled lurched forward about 4 feet and came to a rest and idled fine. I initially thought maybe she accidentally depressed the throttle and it struggled to start with the TB's cracked open slightly and when it finally burped, it took lurched forward and when it lurched it slung her #*$&@ back in the saddle allowing the TB"s pulley to return to the idle stop. She insisted she never touched it and when I asked her to demonstrate her starting procedure, she wasn't even close to the throttle so not sure what that was all about either. Viper #2 ran perfectly all day yesterday and this morning it decided to just randomly stall while warming up on the initial start with a stone cold engine. The engine temp at the time of the stall was right around 145-150*. Anyone having any weird things like this happening?
I read on a thread somewhere that someone with 2 vipers got them both reflashed at the same time like I did and one took and the other had issues and when they diagnosed it, they seem to think the first sleds ecu info was still in the computer and it messed with the second ecu and when they rebooted the computer the second one took and ran fine. At first I thought maybe that same thing happened to me but when Viper #2 decided to just stall out with a fairly warmed up engine, it makes me think otherwise or maybe both ecu's have bugs in it. Thoughts anyone?

I'm having exact same issue. I did a 50km ride and stopped to get gas machine was warmed up. Once i tried to restart the machine would start but it would stall in idle.. In order to get it to idle i had to hold the gas a bit and it would finally idle. Seems weird.

Does anyone know if there is a way to check which version of the ECU flash from the dash?

Did it ever lurch forward on you at any point? It is weird because when it starts after the stall it fires first piston up and idles perfectly around 1500 rpm. Too many random things to really narrow it down to one simple thing ie: idle stop on TB, TPS, cable tension, safety switch on TL etc.
When it stalls, it goes to a low rpm all of a sudden, pops and farts a couple of times and out it goes. The dash stays lit so it doesn't appear to be a faulty kill switch. I have a feeling I should have went with my original gut feeling about the flash and just sucked up the occasional hot start and have the same good luck I had all last year and stayed where it was. I have a feeling its going to be like Apple IOS and they will have about 4 software updates before they get it right lol.

Mine never lurched forward. When mine stalls just goes into low rpm and then dies.

Take it back to your dealer and have it reflashed.

Take it back to your dealer and have it reflashed.
Both of them have already had the reflash update so what reflash are you referring to? Or are you saying to try it again? I'm leaving for a week long vacation tomorrow morning so I thought about contacting one of the dealers in the area we will be riding and see if they have had any issues or knowledge on the subject? Maybe they could try the reflash again. I'm not sure what the reflash entails but I am not sure why it didn't take the first time if that's the issue and if it's not, then why is it acting up like it is. I thought this reflash would make things better and it made it worse. I also heard rumors that the ecu may need time to "learn" so it may correct itself on its own in the near future. I don't know about that as I have had multiple reflashes on other high performance engines before and there was never any learning curve for the ecu. it either works or it doesn't.

That was me. On the second Viper they were looking confused so I asked what was going on. They said the flash would not recognize my VIN so they were trying to put it in manually. I had them reboot the laptop and then it recognized it. I strongly suggest you take it back and ask them to reboot the laptop (in case it has not) and attach it again. Both our Vipers ran strange for a few hours....as expected the computer has to learn the sled again.
PM me your number if you want to talk via the phone about it.

Experienced a start issue where it turned over for 3 seconds, thought that was weird.....waited a few seconds and it fired right up. That was this weekend and I got the re-flash last week Wednesday.

So far the only complaint for me is the idle it fluctuates 30 Rpms. I rode yesterday the sled was in the single digits all night and fired right up and when warm started faster than it ever did so for so good but hate the idle.

Mine stalled once, warming up around 120 degrees, gauges stayed on, fired right up again.Fluctuating idle rpm, worse after installing MBRP can, but it does settle down after a minute or so of idling. My son's 2015 Viper idles the same way.

Had my reflash at approx 3000 miles. first 2 rides if i tried to start it warm (off for an hour or so) it would start and die buck the starter and even back fire) took it back to the dealer and could find nothing wromg. they replaced the spark plugs. rode 150 miles sunday and it ran perfect all day. Hard to believe spark plugs could make that much of a difference. Like a new sled. maybe something to try.

Had the reflash done last week. Rode this past weekend ~180 miles.
What I have noticed is: My cold starts are way better than before the reflash.
No more hot start issues. But a couple of times I had what I would call extended cranks on a hot restart. But basically started fine.
But I did have a stall like "BTbt" had. Coolant temp was approx 120 deg f. But sled fired instantaneously right after.
I do get the RPM hunt once in a while. The guys in our group were teasing me saying I put high performance cams in the engine.

I want to give a shout out to Alex at Big Moose Yamaha in Old Forge NY and thank him for taking the time to get us into the shop to check the sleds to see if the reflashes were done correctly or at all. From what they told us is that the sleds were not claimed by my local dealer for whatever reason so i'm not sure if they didn't get around to putting it through or if they didn't get done at all but Alex hooked them both up and flashed them again to verify they were done and we have almost 300 miles on them since without a hiccup. Thanks again Alex! You da man!!

So it sounds like the issues are 'technique' not content of the re flash.
Good to know. Thanks for reporting guys
