Wet Foot

Brander said:
the only time you are gonna get a wet foot is when your riding in DEEP SNOW and snow is getting your vents. Dont think that trail riding is gonna make this problem pop up

:crap:

Like I said before the best fix is a good pair of boots!

Just my 2 cent here... Last year I would constantly get the dreaded "wet left foot". I only added Yamaha's fix it plate and with 500 miles on this year riding in varied conditions my left foot is just as dry as my right. So far so good for mine...

Good to hear. Did you change anything else to stop this? My first ride, SOAKED!

first ride this year, lots of ice build up on the left side and a wet boot every day. i don't really notice it too much till the very end of the day but it was still annoying to untie a boot covered in ice, lol.

dealer had the defelctor plate in stock, free since its a bulletin. I'll see if it helps me out much in a week or 2. I also plan on plugging a couple holes and i need to add some screen over the headlight hole (since mines gone) to eliminate the snow going in there.

i don't recall my foot getting anywhere near this wet last year, only big change since then was the headlight being deleted (after it broke in half) so i'm inclinded to agree about making sure that any small holes and such are plugged to prevent snow getting in as well.

The only other thing I did was seal up all the holes I could find and seal around the muffler plate on top of the tunnel. I did all of that last year though and still had a soaked left foot. The plate is the only addition this year and my foot has been dry so far.

hey Snoxracer242, so your getting a wet foot while trail riding?

Not anymore! (Thanks to Klim) But 95% of the time I see water driping on the left side. Thats loose snow conditions on the trail, on a hard pack trail I dont see any.

Wet Left Foot

This is the approach I'm taking towards the WLF. I vented my side panel and am going to put prefilter material in there. Also am going to put material in the vents that already exist in that panel(the front one and the one by your left knee). As far as the bootom one (footwell) it is getting closed off with some plastic. I'm hoping to detour the heat out the side rather than on my leg and foot. I brought the panel in the house and got it good and warm. I was able to cut the slots with a utility knife. Maybe going to try it out this week end, I'll update then. THANKS 1050THMPR

Well, after 180 miles of on and off trail riding my pant leg and boot were dry. Had less snow on left (as you are siting on it) foot board than right. The material I used was called pet screen. It is a nylon screen that has a rubbery or vinyl coating on it. I tried to rip it and couldn't (very tough). Got it at the local hardware, 1' X 3' for $1.99 compared to the prefilter material @ $32.00 for 24" X 24". I used silicone adhesieve to adheire it to the panels, just thought someone would like to know. Thanks 1050!!! I'll post some pic's later.
