What adjustments to the suspension are there in a vector?

Looking at helping my dad get his set up. Last year it was the most tippy sled I have eveer seen. So we dialed the front shocks down as tight as we could and that helped immensely but were looking for more. On the rear, it seems all there is back there is the rotater adjustment, control rods, and some hole in the limiter strap.

He does not care about wheelies just wants those skis to stay planted in the corners. What do you guys suggest? Messing with the straps with holes in them?

Current set up = Front springs all the way tight, rear control rods max ski pressure.

Yeah I'd think if you cinch up the straps a hole or two, it will make the change you're looking for.

Contact Bruce at Pioneer Performance. http://www.pioneerperformance.net I just installed a thicker stabilizer bar I bought from him, in addition to new rear springs and I am awaiting the arrival of my new rear shock. I sen the center shock to him and Bruce rebuilt it to my weight and riding style. He also gave me the set up information I needed. GREAT guy! He will set you up.

If he wants the skis to stay planted and does not care about wheelies, there is one adjustment that will correct that. Take the transfer nuts and turn them 3 turns up toward the seat. You will get less transfer and the skis will stay planted. You will lose traction on acceloration, but will give you the handeling you are looking for.

Actually the dealer adjusted them for him, when we checked them out they were WAY above the painted area. So we actually lowered them to the top of the painted area...ie the point that gives the max transfer to the skis. I don't know what having them way up like the dealer set it to would have done. I would assume give him lots of ski pressure but then why would yamaha spec a range with the painted area. Dunno...

Will tighteing the limiter straps 1 hole help with ski pressure? thx

Thanks guys, we'll play with the strap this winter and see if we can't tame her down a little. Does tigheting the strap reduce overall travel in the rear suspension?

Tightening the limiter straps will add ski pressure, but it will also make the steering feel a lot heavier and cumbersome. I did this to mine, but didn't like it at all so I put the straps back to their stock setting.

Also tell your Dad to not be afraid to lean out over that inside ski in the corners. If he's trying to sit up straight and take a corner at speed, the inside ski is going to come up no matter what adjustments he makes.

What I find works great is to really pull up on those straps, and then at the same time completely back off on the front shock (skis) preload. This elminates a lot of the difficulty in turning the skis. It elminates the ski lift, lowers the front of the sled and helps it turn like it is on rails. I can get away with doing this because we ride almost exclusively in Quebec, and if I actually hit more than 10 bumps in a season I'm PISSED!!

Hey guys,

WE took her out today and she is still tippy. The funny thing is its a wheelie master, I can pick the skis off the ground just by giving her a little gas from a standing stop and letting right off again! ITs funny I can move less then 3' but you can see the ski track disappear for about 5" LOL. We'll keep playing with it and see if we can get it to settle down a little bit. Thanks
