Nytro and Vector have EBRS, a system that bleeds off to reduce engine braking. It's still present but greatly reduced. I went over the handlebars a few times on my 06 Attak before I learned not to completely release the throttle. Once you learn smooth throttle movement and not stabbing and dumping the throttle, you'll be amazed how fast you can really run curvy trails.

I never had terrible engine braking with my Nytro either now that I think about it. My sled has the Dupont slides and I think that helps out with drag from the 144 track I have. I'll have to play with my transfer rod setup this season, I think its at full transfer because it picks the front end up no problem, which is fun, but it may be hurting my turning?
I think the smooth throttle transitions is going to be key, I do dump the throttle, I can't wait to get some more seat time on mine to put this all to use.

What rear suspension do you have? Mine is the Cat 141 uncoupled and set back for a 144.

I have the stock 2009 XTX rear skid, So far it has the Dupont sliders and not a speck of rust on anything, Just ordered a twisted spring kit from hygear for the front shock and their torsion spring spacers for the back. Don't have too much money to spend on upgrades this season, spent enough on the updated relays and a new starter relay, new exhaust donuts, and made some new bracket to move the radiator forward away from the trail tank.

Speaking of rear suspensions, I ran into one hell of a confusing situation...
This sled has a rear suspension relocation of some sort. My track is usable but I'm not a huge fan of studs, and this one is loaded with them (and a couple missing). I was inspecting the track and found a part number, but this part number is for a 120 inch, 2.86 pitch track!? I understand that Yamaha went to the 2.86 inch pitch but how the hell do I have a 120 inch track WITH a relocation kit that moves it back about 4 inches?

So I posted about thread about the track. It's a 129". The part number thing still has me totally confused but whatever.
I finally have the sled back together, kind of. I bought the MTX auxiliary cooler from Travis at BOP and installed that this evening. Was actually easier than I expected. Put the gas tank back on (some sort of trail tank, not sure who makes it, but it's clear), put 5 gallons in, and gas started leaking everywhere. Of course.
I realized there was no o-ring for the fuel pump. I took the pump out to clean debris out of the tank a week ago and honestly don't remember seeing any o-ring, so I'm totally confused. I just need to know, does the o-ring go between the metal lid/plate and the pump, or the pump and the tank? The tank has a built in rubber-ish sort of mating surface, so I'm assuming the o-ring is between the metal and the pump? If so I'm going to source one locally.
I've got so much time into this snowmobile that it makes me sick, but I'm so excited to finally ride it, and have something that'll be fun and can keep up with the other 4-strokes I ride with. Coming from an old 440 sno pro this will be a night and day difference.
Powder coating came out great, oilites went in nice. Oh! So, this "race" front end takes bushings from the 2008 only Nytro with the smaller diameter upper control arms. But, not having the single cross shaft at the top, I had to order four more individual bushings from Ulmer (only place I could find individual ones). Other models like the Apex had the right amount of small bushings in the kit, but were then short on the larger ones.
I'm sick of drilling rivets, I'm sick of tripping over body panels, and I'm sick of adjusting ratchet straps holding the sled in the air. Fingers crossed for snow and that I did everything right. Pictures below for your pleasure, and hopefully a huge time saver for anyone who lands one of these Nytro's with this type of front frame/suspension.

Hey everyone, not to bump my own post but, we finally had some snow in Michigan last weekend and
Got some GoPro footage getting thrown off the machine for the first time.
So far, coming from a two stroke factory race sled, I couldn't be happier. But I've also gotten older. The Nytro is A TANK compared to what I'm use to, but I'm not saying that in a bad way.
I feel 200% more comfortable on this Yamaha than I ever did on my 440 race sled (expected), and I beat by buddies Apex in fuel economy over 70 miles by a half gallon, cool! Not I'm just itching to ride more and this weather is bumming me out.
I want to deeply thank everyone who helped me out in this journey of finding parts and whatnot for this snowmobile. This thing is an absolute treat to fire up and ride. Cheers, and fingers crossed for snow!
