What is better a 300HP s/c or turbo

Yeah I guess I wouldn't care if you made 300hp on 20 psi on a turbo but it took 22 psi for a supercharger.

Superchargers seem like the perfect ticket for a trail sled. Your racing then a mid mount turbo with a bad azz header and tiny gas tank will be fast fast fast....

My old CPR turbo set up made 241 at 11lbs. boost
My dads MPI Super made 239 at 12 lbs. boost

So HP to HP, The turbo still walked away. Thats in 1000'
He did leave me at the line a little, but every race by 500' I was running him down.

Supers run like frieght train, then feel like the stop pulling, where a turbo feels like it never stops pulling. Just from seat of pants feel.

I have ridden both, for quite a bit of time.

For 660, use tons of traction products and use a blower and beat them out of the hole.

Ted were there any supers there pushing over 20psi? i'm sure setup has alot to do with it like suspension... I'm sure if someone with your knowledge was to set up that thing it would run pretty darn good. hp for hp it just seems like the super would win why wouldn't it? I know the supercharger won't be the fastest because you can get bigger turbos than superchargers but were talking hp for hp.
I am very interested in this on my next build i want to run over 20psi sounds like the mpi can run like 25 or a little better or maybe a turbo would be better with a msd i want something for 800-1000' snow drags with no studs 144'' track and 1.75'' lug.

There were so many boosted sleds i couldn't keep up with them, so I don't know, I was running 17 PSI.

A little turbo lag helps get you out of the hole not that I have any but it is there.

The superchargers are great also I am not really bias, it has more to do with what each person is trying to do, I recommend superchargers as much as turbos but for different situations.

If I can make more power on less boost I am all for it.

Ted.

From My knowledge there were on or two S/C at my race and both were stage 1s running 10 or 12 lbs. They run good!

Supers are good but in my experience, which isn't as much as some on here, a turbo will still get by it in the end.

Dave, this fall we will put her on Jims dyno, see what dynotech can squeeze out of her. and your right, NOW its a modified Powderlites turbo. Just need to get your intercooler this summer.

Those hp numbers seem low are you saying that your dads mpi apex at 12psi only made 239hp that would suck seeing that mpi claims 240+ at 10psi.

Look back in the pages or do a search, art andre, for more info his Dyno info is floating a round in here. So is the dyno sheets of my old set up. Both sleds were at dynotech as well and Jim is the best in the business.

you right those numbers are low,I just looked back 244 @ 12 psi on the super and 253 @ 12lbs on the turbo.
the turbo did 241 @ 10lbs.

note these are both stage 1 set ups and the bigger stage 2 turbos and supers flow way more air more efficently at the same boost numbers, less heat in the air charge=more power.

AJ you are making me think turbo is the way to go ;)! if i would of had my time back i probably would of went turbo in the first place but then i would most likely still want to give super a try.

For race,I believe in turbo's.On a 1000cc engine,we make 400hp at 20lbs boost and on the 1200cc engine,we make 400hp at 18lbs boost. We don't use superchargers but I have never heard of that kind of HP at those boost levels from a blower
