WHAT IS EVERY ONE DOING TO GET BETTER FUEL RANGE

I'm intersted in the trail tank also, how easy is the install, does it work with the fuel in and provide accurate readings for how much gas you have even though the tank is bigger than OEM?

Also, do you need to add heat reflection material or is it protect "as is"? Seen too many pics of burned out sled given the gas tank is above the donuts on exhaust?

Yes, pretty easy. It's been awhlie but I think you just pull the seat, not sure if you have to pull the aluminum exhaust shroud or not (I don't think so, but if you do, this will actually be the hardest part). Remove the center plastic piece and two black side pieces that sit over the tank, remove the fuel cap and the rubber thing that goes over the stem, reinstall fuel cap. Two bolts at the base of the tank, unplug fuel pump and fuel level sender, pop the vent line off the top, remove the fuel line, pull tank off (hope I didn't forget any steps). Once the tank is out, you swap the fuel pump and fuel sender from the old tank to the new, then reverse process for installation. Maybe a 2 hour project. NOt hard at all just takes some time.

I thought about the trail tank but decided the sled is heavy enough up front. So I'm going with a rear mount gas tank system.

There was someone on here not to long ago with one for sale I think his screen name was pro116 it was like 200 or something like that.

Trail tank install is very easy. The newest tanks they sell have all the bugs worked out and they work with the MTX tunnel cooler if you decide to add one later. No more melting issues or anything. And if I remember right, they come with pretty good install instructions.

I have read about people getting poor readings on fuel level with the trailtank, but I never had any issues. It always seemed to work fine for me. Still does. OR buy the clear tank, problem solved. You'll ALWAYS know exactly how much fuel you have. So will your buddies on their two strokes when they're running out of gas! haha

Weight is a non issue. Once you burn 3 gallons you're back to stock gas tank weight. Plus that's only like 24 pounds or whatever. Ice build up and your beer belly weigh more than that.

If you take your time and trim the plastic and everything after the the install it basically looks like a OEM piece. I can't see owning a nytro without a trailtank.

I have a power commander, with autotune, and I was able to increase my mileage to go as far as the new cats with their 10 gallon tanks. They normally put in over 2 gal. more per tank than I do, with a non turbo 1100. I'm going 112mi hard and 125 moderate, without running out, on the 7.4 gal. tank. I have a brand new in the wrapper Trailtank for sale if anyone's interested.

I have a 2nd gen trail tank. I am in the process of adding a Mountaintech tunnel cooler. Is it going to fit? I have the cooler mounted, just trying to figure out the hoses.

The new trail tank is on sale for 319 right now and comes with dzus fasteners
