Also might add the .8-1.0 degree average was at wot of course, zero timing retard during normal operation. Seems like very safe tune and doesnt appear to be overly sensitive to fuel. I have never seen knock lightZero knock ping detected on data log and I had about a 50/50 mix of 90 non ethanol and 91 octane with ethanol. Had a max of 1.5 degree of timing retard due to knock at one point but was average of .8-1.0 average. I was told it takes 2.5-3 degrees of timing retard to trip knock light

Thanks for all the replies. I have actually been tuning my eco boost trucks since 2013. Turbocharging has always intrigued me. Huge gains on these trucks safely just like the Sidewinder with the correct octane . One last question. Did you reduce your plug gap with the MS 16 tune?Best thing I ever did, I was able to confirm rpms through out the whole pull and monitor boost, intake temp, knock ping, timing retard (choice of 8 parameters at a time)and Im adding the air fuel module this week as well. Thats a bit pricey but I figured it might be a big help down the road if a problem arises with the fuel system or something gets out of whack. With this data logging you get to accurately view whats going on with your sled and whats normal for your sled. I think once you have a “norm” for your sled you can occasionally make a log and give your sled a health check. It was nice to be wot and not trying to read boost and rpms. You wont be dissapointed with the feature. They simply send you another flash with it enables and you update your flasher and load onto sled like you would with a tune.
I did yes, I just wanted to inspect them and while I had them out I gapped them to .020Thanks for all the replies. I have actually been tuning my eco boost trucks since 2013. I will also go the 3 bar. My Powertrail SM 2 bar averages around 15.1 to 15.4. I want the max I can get in SM for my Doo buddies next year! How are your IAT temps running Max16? Mine stay pretty low with Powertrail.
Not sure, don’t keep an eye on that. If I thought my power was down I would check boost first and then that.
Just always runs very strong on the medium size trails that I ride closer to home. Just always runs way over 120 (speedo) so rarely think that something is wrong!

I am running Max16 sm turbo smart and cai with 2 bar map. i have 2 friends with the same set up as mine only both have 3 bar map and after many times running one vs the other there was no difference in performance. now for this year i put on TD header and we were just in Maine for 5 days and again ran each other many times and they are all still close to about 70mph then the Max16 with header really starts to shine easily pulling away from the other 2 without the header. I am still running max16 with header and 2 bar map which i was told from TD to be perfectly fine. we all have the same basic clutching, Heavy Hitters only with the header i need 2,7 grams more weight to keep my RPM at about 9,000. one thing i did find was with the header seems to be more heat under the hood. to get max performance and good clutching temps a lot of venting has to be put in place from stock. i have a lot of extra intake and exhaust venting to really move air through the engine compartment. what does this all mean? any tuned sidewinder is faster than a sled needs to be for trail riding, I maxed my stock gearing out twice over the weekend, have the power to do it but its very rare to have conditions to go that fast on a trail. anything over 120 is very sketchy on any trail.

Can you run the stock heat shielding with the TD headers?

Were you able to get to all the header bolts with the jackshaft installed? I know a few are really a PITA to get to....

Yes, you have to have an offset box wrench to get to a few bolts in the middle. if you have the right tools its not too bad to get the stock manifold off and install the header. the hardest part is throwing common sense out the window and spending more money on your turbo sled.

I actually prefer the trails that make you think about using all of your power, you know, the ones that unfold before you as you come over a rise and there it is. You can see the entire field trail with it’s twists and rises, and you can also see the whole coarse laid out before you with no one else on it but you! Grab one of those county RRBeds and any sled can seem underpowered after a while and getting use to them. So back to the county field trails... just WOW!!!

Have you ever rode Quebec in the Shawinigan area? Endless open farmlands. You can follow the trails as far as the eye can see. A few wooded areas are sprinkled in between. Winders are definitely Quebec machines.I actually prefer the trails that make you think about using all of your power, you know, the ones that unfold before you as you come over a rise and there it is. Never was impressed about Canada, always liked Maine, Vermont USA, always worried about gas or if your truck was safe back at the hotel. Never worried in this side boarder, friend of mine lost truck and trailer, cops said you have insurance don’t you, very impressive. Quebec police ya.
