Guys-
I know there have been a lot of posts about what to check before you ride the Viper...
Can you post up what you found and what is needed to be checked after pickup from the dealer?
I pick my viper up Sunday am and would like to make sure to give it a good check over before I just start slamming miles on the machine. Any information with pictures would be great. I will try to update this post to keep a tally for others as well.
Thanks
Joe
Important check list before first ride:
1)hose clamps on radiator tubes
2)Track Tension
3)shock air pressure even
4)Steering riser nuts loose
5)hood screws
6)clutches clean and oil free

Well I would check fluids, check to make sure it runs, the gauge working properly. Track tension, ask what the shocks are set at and make sure they are set the same before you ride, make sure skis, shocks and windshield is put on correctly. Check to make sure there are no major scratches dents...etc. make sure you got the right model you ordered and the right color. Then I would go drive it to make sure everything sounds good.

If your dealer did the PD right then you shouldn't have to check anything , but if you don't trust them then get everything a once over from front to back

Hose clamps on radiator got about a turn out of each.
I can't find the post now, but wasn't there something with the seat bolt being loose or stripped out?

No some where just changing the bolt because they didn't like the torx head bolt
ahh.. ok. that makes sense.

A few of us had seat bolts on so tight that we could not get them out without stripping the head. Seems like that would be a dealer thing if they actually charged the battery like they were supposed to. Radiator hose clamps, Riser nuts, I found several quite loose, Front shock with differing amounts of air in them, and rear suspension will need to be tuned for your weight and style.
All usual stuff imo, no major issues.

good info.
Just trying to get a lot of these items in one place.
When I bought my Apex in 06 i took it straight to the UP and rode 500 miles immediately. I would just like to look this sled over now that im getting a little older and hopefully more wise

Couple points just to ensure your first ride goes smoothly.
Things I caught on ours were the coolant hose clamps on the upper rad were not only loose but not over the hump on the fitting so it would have never sealed, I re-positioned the clamp and tightened it to fix that. Ours also had a small oil leak one of the clamps was not tight so I suggest checking every hose clamp over on the sled before your first ride.
I would also suggest to check every nut and bolt you can get a wrench on or at least the ski bolts, shock bolts, and rear skid bolts. Make sure the track is tight enough and aligned properly as you have internal drives and a mis aligned track will ride the windows on the drivers. Also check the clutches for shipping fluid on them used to keep them from oxiodizing this area can sometimes be overlooked clean with contact cleaner.

My gas tank was 1/3. Had to top with about 25L of fuel. Picked up from a 5 star Yamaha dealer in alberta Canada. One would think a new purchase would come with a full tank
