I bet a 14 flash of ecu works with Winder Pickup. Or I need to find a pickup same ohm as Viper.
Thats it for day. Watching the game!
Charges nicely,Runs and starts close to same as before with Viper Pickup maybe a little less hunting at idle,Seems to idle smoother in MtCooler and my opinion using the Sidewinder pickup but only for about 20-30 sec. Then shuts off. So I gained the 7oz on outside flywheel for now. That may prove to be a great thing. Need to test for speed. Will not give up on using the flywheel style pickup but cannot get it to work as of now.

Could it be something as simple as reversing the leads on the sensor.

That could be it. I had that happen to me on a custom DIS ignition install on a my car once. It wouldn't start/run due to no spark and I swapped the leads/polarity and it fired right up!
It could be but ohm reading is same both ways. I will try that though. I was looking at specs for other Yamahas hoping to find a pickup with same values as Viper but Winder mounting style. Noticed many gave a voltage spec also. Would that be checked while running or just batt voltage? Have someone to check a winder pickup but Travis had very close readings to what I got for both so thinking the Winder Pickup must still be good.Could it be something as simple as reversing the leads on the sensor.
Another observation when engine is warm when hooked to Winder pickup it will not start at all. Just a fart every now and then. No smell of gas at all. When cool it starts right back up for 20 sec then shuts off and with Viper pickup hooked up it starts and runs hot or cold. I will check cold ohm of Winder I suspect when cold it would be closer to Vipers value. At least I know the valve adjustment went well.

Are you still farting?...

You the man! That thing starts nice.
Runs like a top! Something so simple. Little work and some ice and testing can begin. Updated first page with a video.WooHoo!

Great!
This could be a mod for someone in remote areas also. In all my years of riding and riding with Yamahas the pickup is the only internal engine part I have seen fail and I have seen it fail on Apex,Phazer and Nytro. Usually never strands you till it cools off but then dead in water. A guy could switch back to stock setup faster than changing a fuse. Plugs are readily accessible. Redundant systems just un plug and put in stock plug.

It will be interesting to see if there are performance gains.

You nailed it! I feel like a idiot. the colors were even right but the wires in Winder plug were reversed. Runs like a top! Very happy.

So glad it worked for you. I think it even sounds better than my Viper, not hunting around so much at idle.

So did you get it working? Have you seen any advantages with the sidewinder pickup?
Have almost 2500mi on it. Works great. Advantage? Did too many other things since and rivers here for top speed testing have sucked since. Wide open right now. One thing I do have is it’s redundant. If Sidewinder pickup were to fail I could switch to Viper pickup in a minute or less.So did you get it working? Have you seen any advantages with the sidewinder pickup?
