What to do after a rollover?

If you have the oil light on and then it shuts off. First make sure you still have some oil in tank. Then remove the vent hose at top of tank. Put your thumb on tank fitting and crank engine till it starts and oil light goes out. With the 15 flash this can take quite a few cranks. If you dont have the oil light on I am with TD. Throttle got messed up in tip. Best piece of mind is the rollover valve not only does it save your oil but tether kills the sled so no runaways!

Are they doing anything different with the mountain vipers? I would think those boys are flipping them on their sides more then us trail riders. Do the mountain sleds come stock with a roll over valve?

Phazer will pump oil out quickly if on left side. This has been going on since Yamaha came out with 4st sleds. I waited to get my 4 stroke solutions valve and paid the price first year with Viper. Probably lost a qt and 1/2 in a big puddle right on trail. Just tipped on its side when I overshot a berm. 2 stroke guy riding with me said no way he would buy a 4st after seeing that puddle! His loss. He was behind.

Probably not as many rollovers! Not sure actually. I do remember a hose going to airbox that if not connected quickly drains all the engine oil on one of those chassis. I think oil seperator is in the airbox itself?

It sounds like the issue here was snow in the TORS becasue he said the sled ran fine unless it was stopped or at a low RPM ?? Now if the oil light was on the sled wont run much longer then 10 seconds before it shut off. Been there done that more then once! ;) As Cannondale said remove the side panel and try your thumb over the vent hose on top of the tank, this works great but its a pain in the a$$ on the trail and your buddies laugh and point when your doing this re-prime procedure. Here's a few tips we have learned after our sleds are pointed the wrong way up to help with re-prime and get that oil light off fast.
Once the sled is upright try pulling it over the the left side at about a 45 degree angle and just balance it there for about 30 seconds then let it down and try it, might take a few times. The next way would be start it and give just a bit of throttle to get the sled moving and drive so the sled pointing down hill as much as the area permits ( if the sled is pointed uphill just a bit your going to fight the oil light for a VERY long time :o| ). Remember you only have about 10 seconds so don't waste time and get the sled moving slowly so your pointed in a downward facing direction you might have to do this 2-4 times but usually in less then a minute your light will be out and your riding again. I prefer the last method becasue its fast. Don't forget to check the oil level !

I ride mountains.

Here is where I am going to sart another firestorm s hang on.

The Viper is improved over older 4 stroke Yamahas in that there is a check ball on the breather. Keeps oil in the separator when sled is on its top. But if on its side it can still puke oil out of the breather and into your air box, more so on one side as the other. I roll mine over often in the soft snow when stuck but I try not to leave it on its side at between 45 degrees and 90 degrees. Upside down it doesn't leak, or at least never has for me. But tip it about 65 degrees on its side and here it comes.

Believe it or not Stingray I agree with you. As long as it doesnt freeze up like some guys have had happen.

No kidding, remember the 4 dollar roll over valve I made for the Phazer? And a guy had the ball freeze up and kept riding after the oil light came on? I took a beating over "bad mods" on that one and still put a disclaimer on everything to this day!

Sounds like you tweaked the controls a bit and need to loosen up the throttle cable a bit. TORS is probably cutting it off. Loosen the turnbuckle and shorten it just a bit.
Youre right, my throttle cable wasnt clipped into my hand unit so it had no play in throttle

I figured it out my throttle cable wasnt clipped into to hand control unit so it kept thinking my throttle was wide open and shutting down.

That's great bholicz, glad u found ur problem. Simple fixes are always the best!:rocks: The help on the site is amazing!! Great ppl always willing to give advise.
