OK
I have a 09 FX nytro and thinking of doing a track extension because I am a terrible rider and I always seem to get off the trail trying to keep up with my buddies. As soon as that thing get off a groom trail it is stuck. I am weigh like 300 so that does not help the matter either.lol Should I do a 136 or go longer? What about paddle lenght? Should I do any other suspension upgrades when I have that apart already? I always ride trails but would like to know if I wanted to venture off a little I could with out having to just pin it to even have a chance... I was thinking of getting a renegade so I could hopefull get off trail a little but not sure I am a fan..

Go with a 144 inch extension with tipped up rails and a camoplast 1.5 inch intense track. That would still handle the trails really well and would give you some good off trail capability.

I am really happy with my 144", its super fun to ride and handles the steep and deep pretty well too.
I have been considering going with a 153" skid next year, but the more i ride my 144 the more i like it. If I had to choose again i would probably go 144 once more.

Should I change the wheels or anything else while I in there?

While the skid is out, it's the prefect time to check the bearings. I usually just spin the wheels by hand and replace any bearings (or wheels that have non-replacable bearings), that sound or feel rough.
It's also a good time to change the left side (clutch side) drive axle bearing.

Put a stiffer spring in the front center spring while you have it. Hygear or Schmidt bros sell them and it will help you stay on the trail.

the only thing keeping me on the trail is gaurd rails.. I am a newbie to the snowmobile world.. had my sled for 3 years and only rode it once last year..
Should I do a shock up grade. I alread have the "big boy" spring.. I also have piliot skis.

Dont go higher than 1.75" if you only ride trails.
Check out the backcountry track. I am very happy with mine

If you ride trails a lot maybe better to go to 144" extension but 1.5" or 1.25" track (you might pick up one cheap from the guys with the XTX's who have moved up to a bigger track). The paddles make a big difference off trail but on trail 1.75" may be a bit much ... the 144" will give you the floatation for off trail.
