What we learned today on the dyno.

Yo Beast, yup, thats all I did was rotate it cc towards the front until it wouldnt rotate anymore and that read 1.02 volts on my voltmeter. You gotta borrow a meter dude cause every sled is different. I could only muster 1.02 out of mine and Welterracer got 1.07. I will be at Houghton Lake testing the TPS adjustment I made this weekend so on monday I can tell youse if it worked good or not. But knowing this tip came from Freddie, I am real sure its gonna work.------ Cubby

If you wanted to get real ballsy you could take the TPS off and file the holes a little further oblong and see if you can get a little more adjustment!

So, what happens as you rotate the TSP further forward (CCW)? I saw numbers quite a bit higher than 1.0 on my meter when I adjusted mine. I would like Freddie's take on what you'd be doing going beyond 1.0 on the meter before I ventured into this uncharted territory. PB

mnmsnowbeast, I did notice a improvement in the top end, with a slight increase in rpm. Checked the plugs and they were tan with the heat line or transition on the turn of the strap of the plug. The 165 were lighter in colar, and was same colar right into the tread of the plugs. I may be useing the old school of 2 stroke plug reading. Somebody here might know more about reading plugs on a 4 stroke. Also the 180 jets were a aftermarket type. I'm not shure if they are measured the same as oem. They look smaller than 172.5 that I have, But I could be wrong.

This TPS adjustment.. Could someone please explain how this helps????

Should this be checked on all RX-1's ??

adjusting the TPS has a direct connection to the ECM that controls the engines TIMING...

Having incorrect timing can cause a loss of alot of power!!

So 1xr do you think your biggest gain in top speed came from the 180 jets or tps adjustments,or both, thanks pete

My gains with jets were that it seemed to pull a bit better 10000- 10300 or 10400. when I had 165 it worked the best in a drag race on ice when I loaded the engine and reved it between 9600 and 10000. I have'nt tryed the tps adjustment yet, I have'nt seen what it really does.

OK guys here is what i found last night on a volt meter now this is after i had already set it quite a ways ahead on the cc wise direction and ran it wot full lake runs. Because i wasent able to get the multie meter until tonight,my readings are at idle .997 at wot 4.04 and just by doing this my old idle setting was 1,400 rpms and now it jumped to 2,500 and on top i went from 10,600 to 10,100 to 10,300 it varied some and motor had alot more heat in it,and it felt like it fell on its face, and cr10 plugs that were brown w/black sooty color went to white all white scary white. Tomorrow i will set it back between .670-.750 at idle and wot to 3. whatever and start it up if idle comes back down to 1,400 i know i am back in ball park, this just varifies that to much advance at wot kills rpm hp but adds torque at bottom and mid,now i am ready to take some from bottom and add it to top,i would rather have it up top.

tps

hey beast ,whats your advice on the tps, sounds like you like it better in the stock position, hate to lose top end for sure , maybe a happy medium somewhere instead of all or nothing, mine is working awesome now and i'm only turning 10 on top pulls hard, still waiting for my new team spring to see if i get a few rpm back, its snowing hard up here now sounds like a 10-12 inch storm thats cool, finally gonna covered the dirt, went from washburn to portage to eagle lake and back today trails arent too bad for all the warm weather we have had , when did you say you were coming to caribou,i leave for quebec feb 6 will be back the 13th by the looks let me know

Hi trevor, hopefully,if weather works out,w/some snow, will be feb.1-5th dont fool w/tps leave it along. :)

snow

sounds good on the tps, save me the hassle of it,drag racing or radar run would work good but trail riding i had my doubts,i will keep you posted on the real trail conditions ,from washburn west is actually good but from here to caribou it drops off fast, snowing hard now radio just said 8-12 inches sure will help the cause :D take care

Does anyone have any more data they have learned regarding the TPS since this post was made? I still wonder if a setting somewhere between the two .74 and 1.07 would be best? It would improve the bottom and mid range slightly and maybe not lose much at all off the top end. PB
