The fastest I have seen my moutain RX-1 go on GPS as I recall from last year was 87mph. I was on a nice groomed 1/4 mile long road at 3800 feet.

I saw 115mph on the speedo consistently at end of last season. The rx-1m is geared and clutched from the factory for operation at high altitude. If you dont climb alot I strongly recommend at least doing the changes shown on the chart in the service manual.New top gear(same chain,2 more teeth)also add the rivets to the primary wieghts for your altitude. There is a service bulletin #S2002-008 ask your dealer about the altitude compensation program.I'm pretty sure pts and labor are covered as long as primary use is shown to be at lower altitudes! I was seeing 89-92mph on the speedo before these adjustments...much happier now!

I've tried to find out what top speed is on mine, but all I know so far is that speed keeps increasing until I run out of room. Not too many straight and flat places in my neighborhood :?

Same here, usually the trails heading to the mountains are following the topography and don't allow wide open running long enough to reach top speed. Fastest I have seen was 90 on the speedo.
I have seen 100 mph on the speedo, which was 88mph on the GPS. This was with a turbo too. But I got there VERY FAST and the RPMs were stuck at 11,200. If you guys are getting over 100 stock, I need some serious clutch work or gearing or both.

in stock form with 151'' 2 1/4 finger track saw 107 on speedo at about 8700 feet, with turbo and 159'' 2 1/4 finger track saw 121 on speedo at 8700 feet, I am currently gearing up to a 23/40 to see if I can break 130.
Turbo Time has your gear change affected your speed off the line or climbing?

Why would you want to do 130 with a 159? Almost begging for something to give and cause serious problems. Would be fun though.

Because you can!!!
Ok, so it does seem real practical for a mountain sled, but it would be fun just once.

In refrence to wildbills question, with the turbo it is almost necessary to gear up so that you are not overreving all of the time i have some seriously aggressive clutching in it and it is still 10800-10900 the taller gearing increased track speed dramatically which helps everywhere and also helps to pull the motor down a little.
