The other day I heard a annoying whistle type sound on and off in my garage. After searching it was my btx. It was not on steady. And the key is off. Today I noticed that when I sit on the seat it goes on also, stand up and it quits. No not imaging it, the sound is real.

fuel tank vent possibly?
It's a electronic noise, a whistle may not describe it right. Very annoying, definitely not the sound of venting air.

that is interesting? you may have to remove your seat (one torx screw at back to remove it) to see where that sound is coming from, there is the fuel pump ,tank level sender, starter relay and battery under the seat.

Take your Fuel cap off and sit down on it. See if it goes away.

Well, what was it? The suspense is killing me...
Mine is doing it right now. Its the vent. First time I heard it was in a really creepy swamp. Buddy and I were taking a break on trail about 10pm and it was sounding like it was in the woods but close. We both kinda let imagination get best of us and tore outta there at a real good pace. Never thought about it till was brought up by others. No Ghosts or animals just your vent!

Mine sounded like someone breaking wind.... then I realized I had Taco Bell for lunch!
It was colder today and haven't heard the noise yet. I did loosen the cap up. There's hardly any gas in the tank. Can't believe sitting on the seat causes the tank to vent but ok that may be it. Very strange sound.

Its the vent on the tank.... I crack my cap open everytime I stop. You would think it would be non-existent with a vent tube.
