Hello All,
I'm new here, and new to Yamaha snowmobiles. I am looking at purchasing a Vector ER, what is the difference between a 2006 and 2007 model?
I can get some savings on the 2006, but my understanding from reading about the Yamahas (and correct me if I'm wrong) is that the problem areas are insufficient hand warmers, rapid Hyfax and idler wheel wear, darting, lack of fuel shut offs, and some overheating issues. Have any of these been addressed on the 2007 model? I'm thinking maybe the extra coin for a 2007 might be worth it if it has factory improvements from the 2006 on it? Any help on this would be appreciated.

Anyone notice the 06 has a wider ski stance?? that must be a mis print..
The 07s have the better handlebars.. THe other stuff you mentioned must be addressed by the owner.. ie, New coolant, New skis,Larger boggy wheels.. etc

i think the 07's have the same handelbars because they dident have the hooked ends in 06. and they used the older style handgrips that got hot
I believe the 07's are unchanged from the 06's. Just different graphics. And there were no handwarmer issues with the vectors, just the 150hp sleds with the hooked ends. I put 1500 miles on my 06 last year with no problems. The hyfax wore quick at first and then stopped.I should get another 1500 on them this year. My coolant was fine and 0 overheating problems. And I was one of the lucky ones as my bogie wheels look like new.

OK, thanks all for the info. I thought I read some where that a rear heat exchanger was needed on some models for the overheating issue? Can someone clarify this? I ride Quebec, so its typically in good snow conditions. Is the overheating a result of low snow use?

Some people did have dealer preped sleds where the anti-freeze to water ratio was too high and this caused the sleds to over-heat. Once the mixture was brought down to the proper levels, it was no longer an issue. There is no need to install a rear heat exchanger on the Vector.
Like any sled though, if run them on conditions such as bare ice and don't kick up enough snow into the tunnel, it won't cool properly and the light will come on.

sparky as my name says i have an 06 vector er, i had 0 over heating issues and i ride up in sudbury ont. my handwarmers worked great even at -40, the only issue with 06 is a few had a minor shock rub issue (mine did for the first 5 miles but after that it went away) and the idle wheels (not the big rear ones or the ones mounted to the tunnel but the other 6) which i think mostly depended on your riding conditions. and both 06 and 07 have leaky grease fittings (if you use a hand grease gun most of it will leak out the sides of where the zerk meets the tube and thats because they could not screw or weld it all in, all you need it an air powered grease gun or electric so the pressure is high enough to get the grease in but not blow out and seals) even though i only put about 400 miles on mine last season i loved my vector and im defentanly not going back to a 2 stroke again.
