I emailed him a few times. Where would you message him on this? I have been meaning to call but Due to the time difference and work I have not had the time to get on a lengthy phone call.
I did take the secondary apart cleaned and I put the spring back to the same holes. I think 1&6 if i can remember correctly. I marked everything before I took it apart. I did not properly check the CTC or offset I need to order a tool and was going to order with the clutch kit, but with a measuring tape the CTC seems to be good and with a rule the offset look good when clamped between the secondary, sits in the center of primary shiny surface. I do not have my secondary locked in position like some people do it is still floating.
the second belt I could have left on if i shimmed it, was about 1/6 under the sheaves. I changed the belt to new because i had one and i wanted to try a few runs for top speed with a new belt and clean clutches. A clutch kit would dramatically increase belt life if the problem is slippage and smelling the belt after wide open throttle across a lake make me think the problem is clutch.
What does everyone think? I am going to order a clutch kit but do you think I should install a new factory air box lid and a factory exhaust or some type of aftermarket exhaust or do you think that it would be fine with just the clutch kit. I wish I could get on a dyno and try all this but not possible here for me.
Does anyone recommend a shop to send my clutch to do the overdrive machining?
What is the loosest we can run the track on the apex before getting into anti-rachet drives, I am plain on new drives and 1 1/2 or 1 3/4 track later down the road but I want to get this figued out first.

Since you are in Canada... would it be easier to send to Hurricane for machining and clutching?

Yes I was planing on getting a clutch from Ulmer, but the closest place to me for quality machining would be greast. I am in Newfoundland, East canada. I will check out Hurricane for the maching. I will search for them and see if i can get some information from them. Thanks for the sugestion. I dont mind shipping my clutch further distance if i know i am going to get good quality, but if i dont have to go far for that it would be great. I can actually have clutch machined at my work but I am unsure of the balacning and want to make sure the balancing is good.

i always toast the belt on my sled tree picking or breaking trail as it gets way too hot as I can smell it. lets go later when I am doing higher speeds but that is when I do the damage. going to clutch it this summer for firmer engagemet/low end hold using drag and flys as we have made a decent low end set up on my old war that keeps the belt cooler when pulling a loaded sleigh.
sounds like you are on the right track looking into a clutch kit/clutching.
