Hello,
I was wondering if anyone has put front ski wheels on their sled so that you can use them when going over hard surfaces like roads when going from one section of trail to another.
I would like to hear what are the pros and cons for whatever type of wheels are available. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

I have them on my Vector and will not go without them.
I had the Retrax wheels on my RX-1 and the problem I had with them is that they set to low in the stored position so that when you went through a lot of snow the snow would come flying over the windshield blinding you. The same for going through water.
The Ski wheels I am using now bolt on to the carbide bolts and store higher so you don't have the problem that the REtrax wheels have.
I bought them from AL'S Snowmobile Parts Warehouse. If you have thier cataloge they are on page two.

I also had the Retrax wheels and had issues with snow spraying in my face and had one break after hitting a chunk of wood on the trail (Not that hard of a hit). I found them more of a pain than anything and took them off and resold them. Not sure about the other brands but IMO avoid Retrax

I've been checking into these retractable wheels and you can get them from either "ReTrax" or "SkiWheelz"!
From the feedback that I've read, the "SkiWheelz" are the preferred product. They retract automatically when you go back in the snow, they work off a Torsion Bar and they have a lifetime warranty on there wheels. They also have a top speed of 20 MPH, compared to 5 MPH on the Retrax.
If you go to the "SkiWheelz" site they want $289. US, but if you go to www.alssnowmobile.com they are a much more reasonable $219.
