I am installing new Cobra track on 06 Attak with 8,000 miles, besides bearings, should i replace the chain? What about the shaft?
Machine is stock, chaincase has been updated and mono beef up.
Also thinking of ZX2 not sure about $2,000
I know there are post's but can't find recommended miles on new chain.

Probably not a bad idea but it also depends on how it looks and how weak it is? I am sure some sleds with the same milage could be worse or better depending on how they ride, how well they were maintained and how often and what chain case oil they used?
I would also assume if your putting a brand new chain on it would be a good idea to put new gears on as well?
Doing one with out doing the others will only prematurely wear the new part(s) out.

Black05 on sledmi has a zx2 121" skid for $800 maybe $900. you can order the extension for whatever length and an attak mounting kit. he had the shocks rebuilt by mountain performance last year. Would be a nice buy for you.

Why as a set, as far as I'm aware, gear changes happen all the time without change everything as a set? Now if you're changing due to wear then it's a good idea to change everything as a set.

There is a stretch tolerance in the service manual. You measure the space between the pins and determin if is within range. This may give you an indication on how spent the chain is. If the sled has had a fairly easy life I would expect it to be fine. If you tend to get air and pound the sled I would probably change the chain and shaft. As for the gears, you'll want to inspect them and go from there.

Myself and other guys could help you with the dimensions you need to mount it with the rev mount kit (just a flat plate) I mounted my ZX2 into my apex with the plate I had in my RX1 I just had to measure the distances rather then dropping it in the rx1 mount holes and riveting the plate in place.
The best suspension i have ever rode!!

I changed my chain at 13,800 miles. It was still in spec but I typically ride about 4000 miles a year and didn't want to push it. I didn't change the gears. I inspected them closely and they looked fine. I also don't whale on my sled. My 06 has never been down gear oil.

cool thanks for the zx2 info
I measured my chain well within spec and feels smooth gears look good, since i just found cracked y pipes i will not replace chain or gears will wait till next track replacement.
I did replace all bearings

Kinger has got it for sure. That guy had it at Hastings but I just didn't have the extra cash to buy it. I looked it over good and not a scratch on it and shocks were still good....Just my 2 cents on that one.
